When the Trenchguard warns travellers of the Beasts Below, they mean creatures like Ygothag - or Nefytharask.
Their purpose is hard to understand, some call them the Tidelord's scorned first children, some call them the curse of the sea, but no matter their names, what unites them is a twisted desire to pull all of Sornieth's denizens down to their abyssal realm, where there is only darkness, and debilitating pressure. They are chaotic creatures, and Nefytharask is no exception. Gender- and shapeless, they may take a somewhat draconic form to lure others into speaking with them. Whoever makes the mistake to listen to their whispers of power is usually lost.
The Beasts Below - Creatures with draconic shape, yet far removed from actual dragons. Rumoured by some to be the first children of the Tidelord, they are powerful manifestations of Water. While not exactly malevolent, they are certainly terrifying, and depending on which of them one encounters, they may save one's life, be an omen of things to come, or signal impending doom.
