A paradoxical confluence of gentility and brutality, Arsighn's gallant manner would seem to be at odds with his love of violence. He joined the Clansguard as a young drake and swiftly proved himself a prodigy. His brute size and keen nose for weakness made him a formidable foe even to dragons twice his age, and he soon outpaced his fellows, training personally beneath Curaghan.

When an unsightly beast began taking victims along the Pilgrim's Road, Arsighn's group was tasked with culling it as their last rite of initiation. Even accompanied by veteran Clansguard, the enemy proved cunning, and led the party on a week-long hunt through the Blackwoods, losing its pursuers one by one amidst the dense brambles. All save Arsighn, who never once took his eye off his prey, and harried it through the snarling thorns to the banks of the river, where he fell upon it mid-crossing. Blinded by rage and churning water, Arsighn sank his teeth into the creature's flank and wrestled it to the shallows, where, to the dismay of a party of fisherwyrms sitting in their barque, he killed and devoured it, thus earning the title of "Beast-Eater"- as well as a smattering of applause from the disgusted onlookers.

Thanks to this feat, Arsighn's reputation among the Clansguard remains one of both glory and infamy. He is known to be an eccentric, wearing white into battle to "murder the enemy's morale", with the philosophy that it will be easier for them to see how much blood he has spilled. He is also the grandson of Elanthe, and shares his forebear's passion for justice. Given the nature of the stories that surround him, some may find it impossible to feel at ease in the massive guardian's presence, but rest assured there is no safer place- so long as one is not a beast in disguise.
