You can't kill a being that doesn't have a soul.

Well, actually, you can't kill a being until Death was born... and that wasn't until much later. Either way, Verne's creation brought about the first beings with a soul. They weren't very intelligent, mind you -- they had one fixation: claim the throne.

Verne has always wanted the throne. Even while Verne's essence was still forming, it was attracted to the throne. Rae constantly had to bat it away, but Verne was never deterred.

Verne's followers were just as bloodthirsty as Verne itself. They were demonic and power-hungry. This, quite frankly, startled the entities, who had expected Verne's powers to be a bit less... corruptive.

Well, all the entities worked in strange ways anyway. The first souls were corrupt, much like Verne itself, but souls began to vary. In particular, the birth of Inoran allowed these souls to have greater connection to others, and thus became slightly less destructive. As these beings grew smarter and more mobile with the introduction of new entities, Verne began to mellow out, much like the souls.

However, Verne still remains a powerful force in pursuit of the throne. Just because the newer souls are less demonic doesn't mean Verne has changed... much. Keep your eyes open, folks. Verne can see your soul.

Exalting Verne to the service of the Stormcatcher will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
