Authsalir spent his earliest days in the lap of luxury, and, though he's trying to kick the habit, he tends to look back at these rose-coloured memories as the way to measure everything else. As such, he has a taste for fine things and often acted rather spoiled when he was younger. Though he has grown past those days, Sal stills feels guilty for how much he demanded, and he constantly double-checks everything he says out of fear of sounding demanding or spoiled. With his dashing looks and an admitted taste for the finer things in life, it did take him a while to adjust to a more frugal lifestyle. However, he is also an extremely ambitious dragon and talented magician who intends on paying his 'debt' to Home back a thousandfold.

Somewhat prickly and easily annoyed, Sal can easily come across as aloof, holier-than-though, or simply fed up with everyone's nonsense. He can be rather conceited and somewhat selfish at times, and certainly can seem abrasive and full of himself to dragons who don't know him well, and even his closest friends will tease his exaggerated sense of self-importance. Though he has prodigious magical abilities, Sal isn't the best teacher due to his impatience and sharp tongue. As one of the oldest dragons at Home and a member of the coli team, Sal is often required to be responsible and level-headed, a task which he stepped up to, with time, very well. He has a heart of gold - though he might not often show it - but his abrasive nature can lead to frequent clashes with Home's older members, as Sal's closest friends are often the only ones who can get past that self-important exterior to talk some sense into him. Despite his many faults, most of which he'll readily admit to, Sal is a notably generous fellow, with his time, his words, and with his possessions. He can always be counted on to chip in without question, provide a kind word when you need it, and he'll pick up the tab before you can stop him every time. Although he's well-known around Home for being reliable, generous, and loyal to a fault, he's also well-known for having the most extensive daily grooming schedule, leading to his good friend Utlagi referring to Authsalir exclusively as 'pretty boy.' Sal does not really mind this. He knows he is pretty.

"When Sal first arrived at Home, I'll admit, I didn't have much hope. The kid's sharp, both in the sense of being clever and in the sense of always having something clever to say. I also thought he was pretty selfish, at first, until I saw him out hunting with Revali and he instinctively pushed Revali out of the way and took a hit. Sal's got a good heart, he just buries it under a deep layer of sarcasm and quips. He likes to make everyone think he doesn't care too much, and the only thing he really minds is when someone calls him selfish. I appointed him to Home's coli team because I thought it would bring out the best in him, and I was right. He may be aloof and he likes to seem distant, but his heart's in the right place."
