A bright young Shadow-born dragon, Wheatley came to Home as a hatchling. A bit reclusive by nature, he tends to get along best with the other dragons in Álfheimr Hall, though he is notorious for not being able to carry on a non-argumentative conversation with the other writers. This is the result of mutual faults on the parts of all parties involved, but a non-insignificant factor is Wheatley's belief that practically every genre of fiction other than science fiction is "pretentious." Sharp as a pin but not the most socially adept dragon around, Wheatley is generally well-liked around Home, although most who know him well will admit he's a bit of an acquired taste.

Imaginative and creative, with a dry and sarcastic sense of humour, Wheatley is generally funny and likable to be around. He loves metaphors and wordplay, and has a knack for making the mundane seem profound when he talks about it. Generally friendly and polite, if a touch eccentric, he sometimes hurts feelings because his sarcasm can definitely be abrasive or touch a nerve, although he is always apologetic afterwards. He is one of those writers who write not necessarily because they enjoy but because they truly believe they have no other choice. He often says of his writing that it feels more like there's something clawing its way out of him than it feels like he's making art. Wheatley only writes science fiction stories, and though he's already been published several times by local magazines, he generally accepts that his stories are a bit too weird for mass publication. Most interested in tackling issues of psychology and the nature of dragonkind in his work, Wheatley's research has made him a passing expert in psychology and anthropology. In fact, he's known around Home as a jack-of-all-trades, and is able to hold a decent informed conversation with just about anyone regarding just about anything.
