Biography

pUajRie.gif Kiri
Botanist
Patient | Attentive | Organized

A humble botanist, Kiri enjoys breathing life into all kinds of plants, finding joy in being able to raise a plant from a simple small seed. Once a renowned Light mage, after a battle rendered her blind, Kiri was left wondering what her new purpose would be in life. Feeling useless anywhere else, Kiri wandered Sornieth aimlessly in her suddenly dark world, while she could use her magic to feel the world around her, nothing could replace her lost sense of sight. While her sense of touch grew stronger, Kiri began to take comfort in the gentle touch a flower required, how they hung delicately in the balance of nature. It was remarkable to her and she respected a flower's determination to survive. Sitting in a field of flowers, that was how her life had changed.

"In a way, it's like you, isn't it?"

She hadn't even heard the arrival of another dragon, and the sudden announcement sent her whirling around in a hurry to find who had suddenly appeared behind her. She was greeted with a soft laugh and assurance that her new companion was of no harm to her. He introduced himself as Galen, "Somewhat of a...guardian if you will." He explained that he often kept an eye on clans around the area, he was a hired guard. He mentioned that he'd been keeping an eye on her since she'd crossed over into the freezing lands, curious about her condition. Kiri explained she wanted no sympathy that she was simply trying to find her way in the world now that she'd lost her sight, Galen couldn't help but be curious about the young dragon and wished her well on her travels, choosing to follow her to keep her safe so long as she would pass through the frozen grounds. Kiri was hesitant to accept his kindness, not wishing to be pitied or thought of as weak, she used to be a strong mage and in a way, she wished she still was. Yet Galen persisted, even after Kiri's insistence that she would be fine she could always hear the Imperial's loud steps behind hers. It had made her travel easier, as whenever trouble would rear it's head, it would be gone before the blind Skydancer had to worry. When she arrived at the edge of the ice lands she could feel the chill of the air starting to fade, but the Imperial's steps never stopped following.
"Shouldn't you be getting back to your post?" She posed as she turned her head toward the familiar footsteps.
"I figured keeping you company would be much better than being stuck in some dead end job I never wanted in the first place." Was his simple reply. And just like that, Galen had become a travel partner, one that let Kiri keep her independence but would offer his support if she so desired it. She became more receptive to the Imperial's offers, accepting his help when she would struggle over certain terrain. Eventually it was her who gathered the courage to ask for Galen to stay by her side forever more.
"Do you not...worry about my appearance? What if you would find how I look truly detestable?" Galen asked simply from across the fire in front of them, "Would you still ask for me to be your eternal mate?"
Kiri scoffed as she moved to pull her shawl around her before her slender claws found the edges of the fabric covering her eyes before the Skydancer gently lifted it to reveal the white and glossy eyes underneath, it was the first time Galen had ever witnessed the sprawling scars that easily covered both of the Skydancer's eyes.
"I suppose I don't have to remind you, do I? Even if I wished to see you with my own eyes, I've lost that ability long ago. To me, it truly doesn't matter what you look like, your actions speak much louder to the type of dragon you are. So far, you've been the only one who hasn't treated me as if I were some porcelain statue that would break if I was mistreated ever so slightly."

Thus the imperial decided he would stay by Kiri's guard and instead of offering himself as a pawn for others to use, he devoted himself to his wife's care, helping her adjust to a sightless life and becoming enthralled in her hobby.
