 "Everything you see has its roots in the unseen world." Upon being born, Tupilek immediately knew what he was. Upon opening his eyes he began listening to the world outside, and also to the world that existed within himself, feeling the strong pull of something more than what his peers called "Change". In those waking hours the tundra lay still, observing and absorbing all that his newfound brain could. What stirred within his body and soul were spirits of varying power and mentality, neither of which he viewed as good or bad. They simply were, and slowly, Tupilek began to accept that he was comprised of more than just flesh and bone: instead, he was born a vessel of voices which came from the earth and air, his own essence mixed in to create the likes of himself. His first night of Change was not one of fear or regret. The hatchling simply accepted it as the moment when Those who lived through him rose up and needed to speak. Later, Tupilek learned the name and makings of his Moonbeast ancestry, and through teachings of other adults and elders alike, he began to understand more about himself and what many others considered a curse. However, his own internal beliefs did not falter - he embraced his gift with open arms despite eventually coming to realize that such talent came at high cost. Even though he fully gave in to the ancient calling each time a moon rose, he could not control how violent his actions seemed to be. Thus, Tupilek left his pack in lieu of leading a solitary life until he could better grasp how to live alongside his nature in peace. Through years of intense meditation and study, Tupilek finally began to truly understand and work with the beings inside and around him. He traveled through many Clans and lands seeking knowledge of the ethereal and spirit world, apprenticing under ancient dragons wise beyond comprehension. It was during this journey that he recognized his Other Name - a label he could hear Them call out when They tried to make contact. Slowly, Tupilek began to realize that hearing his Name was to be associated with Change, and whenever he felt it whisper on the wind he would isolate, meditate, and seek council. Only then was he able to truly control and harness his physical and mental states in harmony, able to withhold ethereal chaos until each full moon. He found himself settling among this Clan upon the discovery of a talented Soothsayer, and later a dragon he could speak with regarding difficult times of Change. Those around him were quick to dub Tupilek Shaman of the Clan, especially once he'd found a mate in Hush. The tundra was not keen on titles, but accepted his role humbly regardless - it would be a bad omen not to do so. He now practices spiritual healing or medicine for those who seek assistance, specializing in guiding lost spirits and souls to the afterlife after leaving their physical bodies. A rogue talonok serves as his assistant, guiding spirits with bells or incense as Tupilek instructs. |
