No Lightning clan would be complete without at least one spire to collect electricity from the storms that batter the Shifting Expanse. Since Square Toe is a pretty dry area, the one Riviera mans is relatively small and located a short way out of town. Any electricity it collects is stored in an underground battery and sent out via cables to wherever its needed, which is really only the library, the radio station, Cherry, and Tom. Spire work is always dangerous, and doubly so for Water dragons. For a Water dragon who just happens to have his element constantly running down his face? Everybody says it's a miracle that Riviera hasn't been electrocuted yet. Either that, or the saying is true: Stormcatcher protects hard workers and fools. |

Riviera doesn't know Mary that well and doesn't really want to, given that she borrowed his spare grounding rod- a very important piece of safety equipment!- just to use it as a bug zapper. She asked, and he gave it to her, but he still wishes she told him what she was going to do with it. |

Cherry had to fight for her electrical hookup- it's absolutely necessary for a doctor to have x-rays, refrigeration for vaccines, and electric lights for look up noses and ears, she argued. Riviera agrees with her completely, but is too intimidated to tell her that he isn't in charge of where the power goes. He just collects the stuff. |

Although Spike's main job is water management, she's also technically in charge of anything that could be termed a 'utility". This includes electricity, much to her and Riviera's chagrin. Anything involving the power plant is (literally!) out of her depth.. |
