BARE BEASTS

Among dragons there is a condition that some are born with that limits scale growth. These dragons have few to no scales and are quite vulnerable with exposed skin. In some places of Sornieth many of these dragons will gather together to make a clan. Unfortunately this means the gene is almost guaranteed to be passed down to their offspring, but it does also offer a bit of safety in numbers as well as understanding.

42766571_350.png On Apollo's travels, he discovered a clan filled with Coatls who were scaled only on parts of their bodies, the rest covered with bare skin. At first, they saw him as a threat, treating him with hostility. On hearing his explanation of his mission, one dragon came around, convincing the others to give him a chance.

Charla was assigned to assist in Apollo's studies during his time with the clan. As she aided in his examinations of the Bare Beasts, she was told a lot about the Scholars of the Wing. Hearing the importance of all magic, even that of dragons like her, Charla began to feel hope for a new future, one where she wouldn't have to be shunned and cower in a hidden clan.

When he was due to leave, she begged Apollo to take her with him. After some discussion with the rest of the clan, it was decided that Charla would leave their safety to join the Scholars with a focus on researching magic to improve the lives of the Bare Beasts.
