Biography

They say no composer can work without inspiration. Be it from a dance or a natural wonder that has captivated them. Music cannot come from nothing. It needs a purposes in the world. A statement or a worry. A love or a loss. Music had to have meaning. It had to have expression. The meaning could become anything once the music was out of the composer's hands, but as it was being created it had to mean something to its creator. Music was very much alive and it demanded to live. But life cannot be brought about without some source of energy and idea. Asking a composer to write a song without inspiration will lead to a pile of sound. Simple notes on a page, words on the lips. It would be the same as holding a knife to an artist and telling them to paint, or to a writer and ordering them to write. There will be a product but the product will be flat and lifeless. It will be dead.

Virgo did not want to produce dead music. He was an artist of sound and words, a composer of ballads and songs, of music that could make someone get up and dance or sit down and cry. Yet the inspiration he once pulled from had dried up. The festivals and carnivals that had once filled him with joy and desire no longer lit a spark inside him. The wonders of the natural world from forests to waterfalls did little to stir the muse. His music had dried up like a stream. It had grown stale and forgotten. He lacked that magical spark. He lacked a subject worthy of his admiration. Yet even the act of looking for inspiration can lead to a lack of it. The desire to create did not come from no where. It had to raise its head and shout “Here I am!” for him to grasp it and use it.

For Virgo, that shout came in the form of a full moon. He had never noticed how beautiful the moon was, despite seeing it every night. Her brilliant, gentle glory that shined down upon the world and casting it in such soft light. Compared to the harsh sunlight that could blind the eyes, the moon was so silky. She was there every night, changing with each passing day. At times she vanished, as if shy of her brilliance. Other nights she was so gleeful she became full. Yes. This was what Virgo was missing for years. That source of inspiration. He had to use it, to grasp it and to create music from it. The music he created was for the moon and the moon alone. He wrote songs and ballads and duets for her. Playing them for her each night, telling her his thought process and what he wanted to achieve with the music. Something soft and melodic for when she was half-waxed. Something dreary and lost when she was half-waned. Bold and exciting for when she was full, something creepy and dark for when she was new.

She heard his songs. She came down from the sky as a beautiful glimmering imperial. Gracing Virgo's very eyes with her true brilliance. His inspiration is now endless due to her beauty and grace. Oh, how lucky other composers would be to have such a source of muse!
