Light, so bright

The light of floating lanterns illuminated the Ballroom, as the nightly festivities meandered on. The sound of laughing, singing, clinking glasses, and the soft patter of dancing feet surrounded her. She felt at peace, here, at the center of the dance floor, twirling along to the music of her clanmates.

As bright as the sun on a lovely afternoon

She twirls, over and over, feeling firelight flicker off the metal on her dress. The room is warm, but comfortably so, like a blanket on a cold night. The air seemed to crackle with energy as weary spirits lifted in the pleasant glow of firelight.

We'll be together, the two of us, we'll be alright, tonight

Embers twirl in the air, dancing like how her clanmates once danced. The fire crackled, burning the history of the dragons who'd called this place their home. Spiraling flames lit up the night sky, the smell of smoke replacing the smell of cedarwood and feasting.

As long as we keep dancing, keep dancing through the night.

Faea ran as far as she could, tears streaming down her face. There would be no more dancing, not tonight. Cold wind bit into her flesh, her injuries stinging and screaming for her to stop. But she could not stop, not here, where any wild beast that came upon her could kill her in less than a heartbeat.

So dance with me, my love

She ran until her legs gave out, at the top of a cliff. She collapsed, sobbing into her evening gown. A gentle hand lifted her up, dried her tears. "You're safe here, dear. Do you need a home?"

In the light of the fire, so soft and warm

A nod. The kind dragon led her into a house of some sort, and she slowly fell asleep.

When you get tired, there's a bed right down the hall

Faege stretched, feeling the wave of calm wash over her, as it always did right before she danced. Tonight would be a good night, she was sure of it.
