It is raining sheets, and you are standing in the entrance of a cave, doing your best to protect yourself. Despite the weather, the clan is bustling around the lagoon, preparing for something. You cannot fathom what could be so important that they aren't waiting out the rain. Something serious, if the healers are out and about. Whatever, they can drown themselves, you think, and are about to head inside, when something rises out of the sea.
You freeze, a little confused, a lot terrified. The beast pulls itself up into the lagoon, and, suddenly, your legs are moving you out into the storm, ready to help defend your home however you can. But the others seem unfazed, and the healers are following the serpent as it moves, so something is definitely up. It stops at the shallowest part of the lagoon, under the great tree, and opens its jaws to reveal something limp.
There is a body in its mouth.
As you approach, the serpent makes eye contact with you. She nods before returning to the sea, and you stop, registering her worried expression.

You get the feeling that dragon was in good hands.

Adra has lived so long that she barely remembers her childhood. She remembers a soft voice, presumably her mother, teaching her to, above all else, be kind. She remembers others like her, once, brothers or sisters, family and friends.
It has been a long time since then. She thinks she is alone now, but dragonkind is a friendly enough replacement.
Her first forays upstream were met with hostility (if a great serpent swam up your river, you'd be pretty freaked out too). It took work, but eventually, she convinced them that she was friendly. She taught them the best places to fish and how to ally oneself with even the most hostile maren. In exchange, they taught her how to not look so scary and what they'd learned about the world.
She also learned that dragons are incredibly squishy. They actually worried about the weather; a strong breeze or swift current could hurt them rather than just becoming a minor inconvenience. She kept this newfound perspective in the back of her mind as she returned to the sea once again.
Years after this, during a summer storm, Adra had her second encounter with dragons. The poor things were drenched and doing a better job of kicking up surf than flying in the sky. She remembered her old friends. She remembered the soft voice in her memories. She clasped the dragons in her front claws and dove into the sea.
Trying to swim without the use of your hands was actually quite hard, Adra soon found out. She did her best to hold the creatures above the waves, eventually resorting to swimming on her back. As cumbersome as it was, she returned to the land that now seemed so far away.
As she hauled herself onto the shore, she realized her old friends were nowhere to be seen and their homes fallen to ruin. Odd, but she could worry about that later. She opened her claws and placed the dragons within on the sand. They laid there, chest heaving, for a moment before scrambling to their feet, watching her warily. Adra could almost watch their brains contemplating her, before one croaked out a feeble "Thanks," before they turned and ran into the trees.
When Adra next encountered a storm at sea, she was prepared. She didn't know why dragons kept insisting on travelling through terrible weather, but at least she could rescue as many as she could. She returned them to the same place each time. Eventually, she could find the place in her sleep. Her familiarity with the lagoon made it all the more obvious when something changed.
A giant tree had sprouted in the center, far too large to be natural. Adra could feel the magic in the air tingle against her scales. She almost chocked it up to the natural magic of the Isles, but as she approached the tree, the tingling began to feel like needles in her skin. Something was wrong here.
She turned to leave, unable to do anything except run, and found herself face to face with a dragon made of the same wood as the tree, but larger than any dragon she'd seen. They looked her over with a cold gaze, before their face softened somewhat.
"I'll keep them safe," the dragon said, before sinking into the ground.
Strange, but Adra assumed they were friends now.

Had to save Adra for later in the list because I always feel bad just immediately jumping to the first page, but I just couldn't stop thinking about her as I was looking through your lair. Her range of pastels is such an impressive use of genes, I love the way you used the different accent colors of mist to give her hints of warm and cool tones. And the way the arcane eyes pop against the pearl basic is the perfect cherry on top
