Biography

“We are a way for the universe to know each other. Some of us know where we came from. We aspire to return. And we can do it because the cosmos, too, is in us. We are made of stardust.”
― Carl Sagan

PHIRLI
STAR SEER AND PATHFINDER | Beautiful ▲ Realist
PLEASE RETURN TO FEINICS #391800
THIS IS A PERMA

As is the case with many of the dragons that find themselves living within the abandoned quarry of the Lost and Found, Phirli is not like most dragons. As a fae with arcane bloodlines he was born amid the stars, raised in starlight and trained to read and interpret the cosmos. He is an expert navigator, responsible for having led himself and his mate across the Sea of a Thousand Currents to seek refuge in the sands of the Shifting Expanse. He can make predictions of fate based on the alignment of stars, and he can read a dragon's aura with one look, however he finds himself hard-pressed to believe in any of it.

At heart Phirli is a realist. A dragon can never leave anything up to fate or chance. He believes the cosmos actually holds no power over a dragon, much in the way a dragon's own claw can hold no power over it. These things are a part of him, and can be used if he so chooses, but without action are as useless as balls of gas burning billions of miles away. No, Phirli is not like traditional arcane dragons, but he is like most fae.

In addition to his realist tendencies, Phirli trusts his eyes over his heart. He is attracted to beautiful, shiny things, like his beautiful mate Nesha and the beautiful stars. Thankfully he now lives in a land where the latter holds little attraction, as the great Stormcatcher rarely lets the skies clear long enough to view the cosmos. So, Nesha has become his world, his everything, and it is Nesha who he showers in compliments and praises. He answers to her beck and call, and does little for anyone else's, not seeming to contribute much to the clan besides caring for his own clutches and keeping Nesha happy and occupied- a feat his clanmates are truly grateful for.

Especially when Nesha took things a little too far.

Their first clutch had been just as beautiful as she, stunning little pearls with even more stunning personalities. As young hatchlings, Nesha insisted she and Phirli teach their offspring everything there was to know about being 'proper' dragons. While their clannmates focused on tinkering and training, they focused on expanding their hatchlings in the ways of the arts and the stars. They learned to speak eloquently and sing beautifully and read the cosmos as though they were born of it- because in a way, they were. The sands of the Shifting Expanse was treated like stardust and there, nestled in those walls of the abandoned quarry, Phirli had his first optimistic spark kindle in his chest. Perhaps his mate could train their offspring for greater things than fighting and war. Perhaps they could go on to be all the wonderful things she spoke of instead of bodies to fill armor... or perhaps they were failing their young by sending them out, prepared for everything but reality.

It only took one mistake for the pastel couple's star-struck hearts to crash back to earth. After only one dragon from their clutch managed to stay away from the war front, they realized in order to truly prepare their young for the world they had to be versed in more than social relations. If there was even a chance for them to be sent to battle, they would be trained as fighters, too. So, with every clutch they assess their young, Nesha negotiating with the highest bidders to ensure their young are too valuable to exalt. Though he will never state it aloud, Phirli knows there is no guarentee from there that the gods won't call upon their meeker-mannered offspring. He can only hope that their training in other fields protects their place in their new homes, and for what he cannot bare to hope for, he turns to the stars.
