While many seek the veterinary trade because they lack a certain connection with their fellow drake, Lagoon is equally as comfortable with familiars as he is with dragons. Though his emotional nature can introduce a layer of fragility to his interactions with others, his correspondingly deep empathy means that he's laser-focused on the best possible outcome for all involved—a key factor in his introduction to the Council. Worried familiar caretakers can rest assured that their companions will receive the best possible care from Lagoon and his aides; so long as they treat him with respect, they can guarantee a pleasant interaction, too.

Lagoon was raised by a lonely mother who frequently sought—but couldn't find—true love. She constantly raised nests with new mates in the hopes of finding that one deep bond. In the time it took Lagoon to reach maturity, he had several groups of younger siblings to watch out for. For a soft soul like him, the constant desire to play a strong role model amidst a sea of chaotic hatchlings was exhausting. Despite the affection he received, it was easy for him to feel neglected and alone in the whirl. The only thing he truly took comfort in was taking care of his family's many familiars; looking after them, he felt no obligation to put on an upstanding facade.

When he finally left the nest, this connection encouraged him to pursue education in the veterinary trade. He apprenticed under a knowledgeable familiar caretaker for several years and was sent off into the world with high honors—and higher hopes. For the first time in his life, he felt as though he had catered to his own interests instead of others', and he was genuinely excited to apply his efforts in a meaningful way.

He found Thunder Hollow after being cast astray by a storm. Once his own wounds were cared for, he was shocked to find the fledgeling clan in sore need of help with their familiars. Between the hurricane's sudden blows and the inborn danger of such a Shade-torn land, a veterinarian was in high demand. The decision to stay and lend a claw was a natural one for Lagoon, and he has been happily plying his trade ever since.

Being the other primary authority on zoology and familiars in Thunder Hollow, it makes sense that Lagoon would find a kindred spirit in Storm.

OCEAN • friend
Lagoon and Ocean connected early on, and the two had a nest together as a part of Ocean's own personal quest. The two are still quite close to this day and spend a lot of time together.

ACCALIA • apprentice
Lagoon could not be happier to finally have an apprentice of his own. Accalia, for all her eccentricities, is an earnest and dutiful student; Lagoon hopes she'll someday make a strong colleague and successor.
