But as you might have guessed, narcissism and the grime of travel don't exactly mix well. Eabhar lasted exactly 3 months and two weeks (and five hours, 8 minutes, 20 seconds; he counted every painstaking beat he had to watch his beautiful scales suffer the untamed wilds). Tired, miserable, and dirty from infrequent(!) baths Eabhar returned to Arcane swearing off ever even leaving his lair again. Food could come to him. Water could come to him. The only thing he was going to, was a good long bath. Self-contained to his (meticulously kept) lair, Eabhar passed the time by learning the riveting art of accounting and gem keeping. And then became less sarcastic of it once he realized the economics of gold and gems actually did fascinate him.

Clan Aduantas introduced itself to him when it sent out a call for dragons actually qualified for tracking gem expenditure; apparently their old gem keeper changed clans and just putting random dragons into the role wasn't working out great for them. Cautious but horrified at the thought of putting dragons who don't know what they're doing in charge of something as precious as gems (don't they know how much these cost, what if you lost them--), he applied for the position. And got it. And made the trip to the Wispwillow Grove cursing not asking for an escort.


Now, Eabhar curls up in a specially heated lair that has a bathing pool and chests of scale-keeping wax (apparently, Aideanne finds his narcissism cleaning habits endearing), and bookkeeps the gems of Aduantas. He loves to watch Beiste wrought beautiful works from crude metals and enjoys bantering about money with Kadere (also, perhaps, enjoys the gentle courtship the mated pair is leading him into).
