Zeno was born in the Starfall Isles but was kidnapped at a very young age - so young that he can't remember his original homeland. It was a hoard of members from the Beastclans that took Zeno and many other hatchlings from different clans. The Beastclans' base was situated in the melting lands of the Southern Icefield in an ice cave where no one thought to look for the hatchlings. They locked the hatchlings in cages - they would eventually become offerings to the Shade himself! Fortunately for young Zeno a Slight Eyewing was flying nearby and noticed some very suspicious behaviour. She flew down and watched as the Beastclans locked the hatchlings away in dark cages with no bars - just walls - and went about their usual activity of guarding the place. Perhaps it was instinct but she couldn't leave the hatchlings with these monsters - she had to save, at least, one! Creeping past the creatures she made a grab for the nearest cage and quickly got out - it was too risky to stay around for much longer. She flew around for a but until she came up to a small covering of trees and landed. She opened the cage and saw that the hatchling inside was rather special - one of the first known to have unique eyes that the dragons were quickly calling Primal Eyes! |

As the sky darkened and the snow began to fall the Eyewing settled down for the night under a tree and curled up in a leafy bush to keep warm. She had found out that the hatchling was blind as it kept clumsily bumping into things - this only made her want to help it even more! As she tucked her head under her wing the little hatchling hobbled over and nestled into the warm feathers. The Eyewing didn't stop the hatchling from cuddling into her despite how much of a cold personality she usually gave off - she was far too smitten with the little one to bother! The sun rose and the Eyewing awoke to the hatchling climbing on her back and playing with her large feathers. She huffed. She knew she couldn't look out for a hatchling - she didn't even know how to look after it! Sighing, she got up and put the hatchling back in the small cage. She then took flight to find another clan that could look after the little one. Not long into her flight the Eyewing found a medium-sized clan situated at the edge of a forest. She flew down and grabbed the attention of the leader. She then explained everything that happened and the leader agreed to take in the hatchling, emphasising that it would be carefully looked after in the clan's nursery. The Eyewing nodded and turned her back to the leader. Just as she was about to flap her wings to take off she took one last glance at the cage containing the hatchling. She was getting too attached - she needed to create some distance between her and the little dragon! One big flap and she was off the ground, flying past the mountains towards the warm climate of the Ashfall Waste. |

Years passed and the Eyewing found herself circling back to the Southern Icefield after her long journey through the different lands. She thought she had gotten over the little hatchling but she found herself to be very wrong as she was flying in the same direction of the clan where she last saw the hatchling. Arriving on the outskirts of the land she perched herself atop a branch and watched a small group of teenage dragons. She recognised one of them - a long dragon that wore a beautiful cloak. She couldn't hear what they were saying but the long and wildly-coloured dragon drooped his head and walked off in a different direction. Scowling at the small group of dragons she took to the air once more and followed the long dragon. Soon the Eyewing reached a large lake and saw the long dragon sitting beside it and casually running his paw through the pristine water. She walked around to get a better look at his face and saw those same glimmering eyes that she had seen years ago! It was the hatchling all grown up! The Eyewing slowly walked over and cleared her throat to announce her presence. The Spiral's ears flicked in her direction and he turned his head ever so slightly. "Who are you? And what do you want?" he asked sounding rather annoyed. "Don't tell me you've forgotten about me? Well, I wouldn't blame you, it has been years after all!" the Eyewing replied and sat beside him. He had really grown since the last time she saw him! The Spiral turned his head in disbelief and gasped slightly. "I know you!" |
