Biography

Backstory: Tide’s father, Ghoma was a powerful and well-known king in the Sunbeam Ruins. Many lesser clans came to fear King Ghoma’s rage. Although, Ghoma loved his subjects and family dearly. Since Tide was Ghoma’s son, the hatchling saw the good and loving side to the fierce-some king. Tide’s early childhood was blessed with his father and mother’s love and wealth. Tide never went hungry and had plenty of toys. His mother, Misteye hired Zanhorn, a metal forger with growing fame, to craft the filigree gene into her DNA and the DNA of all of her other children. While Zanhorn stayed at the palace to craft the filigree gene, Tide met Zanhorn’s daughter, Mocha, for the first time. Mocha asked Tide if he wanted to play a game of chase with her. Tide told the mirror hatchling that he didn’t play weak peasant dragons that were raised by pumpkin dragons (note Mocha’s father was a pumpkin dragon, meaning he was a dragon with a screw loose). Mocha took a lot of offense to that statement. Mocha demonstrated her rage to Tide by attempting to claw the guardian hatchling’s eyes out. The guards had to peel Mocha off of the guardian hatchling. Now, King Ghoma was furious with Zanhorn for allowing her child to attack Tide. Misteye stood up for Zanhorn though and explained that the mirror dragon was to busy to be watching her hatchling. Fortunately, Misteye persuaded her husband to let Zanhorn off with a warning. Although, the real damage had already been done. Rumors about Zanhorn’s daughter attacking the royal family spread all over Sornieth. Zanhorn to lost a lot of business with other royal kings and queens within Sornieth. Mocha swore she would exact revenge on the spoiled guardian dragon. Meanwhile, Tide’s life went along swimmingly. Tide grew to be a very powerful guardian dragon and gained the favor of his father. Once a Tide reached adulthood, Ghoma chose Tide to be his successor. Everything in Tide’s life was perfect, but the guardian dragon still felt empty. His father had always been confident that Tide would find his charge in his father’s castle. Although, Tide never found his charge at home. When Tide’s father asked him if he had found his charge, the young guardian dragon lied that he had discovered the castle was his charge. Tide could feel the pull of his instincts beckoning for him to begin his search, but Tide ignored it. The guardian dragon held lavish parties and got ridiculously drunk in order to fill the void inside of his heart. He slept with many female dragons, but could never commit to one, despite the pressure his mother put on him to find a proper mate. As the days passed, Tide became convinced his terrible habits were the only thing that could keep him “happy”. However that all changed when Tide’s eldest half sister, LongGone, returned to her clan. Now, Ghoma had denied LongGone was his daughter. Ghoma knew in his heart that LongGone was one of his, but LongGone had resulted from a mistake Ghoma had made in his younger years and he was ashamed of her. LongGone had heard that Ghoma had made Tide his official heir to the throne. This made LongGone furious because she was Ghoma’s firstborn and therefore the most deserving of the throne in her mind. LongGone plotted with some of Ghoma’s other disgruntled children to kill Tide. In the middle of the night, LongGone and many other children of Ghoma snuck into the castle. They worked their way to Tide’s bedroom and quickly gagged and bond Tide before he could make a sound. LongGone had worked hard to gain popularity in Ghoma’s Clan. She knew Ghoma’s Clan would despise her if she killed Ghoma’s beloved heir so she needed to cover her tracks. The children of Ghoma carried to the ocean that bordered the Sunbeam Ruins. They attached heavy weights onto Tide’s bondages and threw the guardian dragon into the ocean. LongGone was sure that Tide would drown (assuming the impact his body made with the water didn’t kill him) and that the currents would carry his body away never to be seen again. Tide realized he was the end nearing the end and wept for all the time he had wasted and the charge he had never dared to find. When the guardian dragon hit the water’s surface, he blacked out. Tide awoke to the nudge of a spirit of water. Tide was still gagged and had his legs tied together. Although, the guardian dragon soon realized he was underwater and still breathing. Tide realized he now bore the Diver Emblem upon his brow. “The Tidelord saw many of your futures. He asked me to come,” The spirit of water, who had bestowed the Diver Emblem on Tide, explained. “To give the second chance.” Then, the spirit of water freed Tide from his bondages. After freeing Tide from his bondages, the spirit of water began to swim away. Although, Tide had a problem. He didn’t know how to swim. He frantically begged the spirit of water for help. Reluctantly, the water spirit agreed to help Tide learn how to swim. From there, Tide swam to the nearest port to see if his parents and siblings (not including the half siblings who tried to kill him, obviously) were okay via newspaper. The water spirit, who called herself Agua, decided to travel with Tide because she wanted to make sure the guardian dragon didn’t waste the second chance she had given him. Fortunately, LongGone hadn’t attempted to kill any other members of the royal family. Tide was still very concerned for his parents safety so he decided to return to his father’s castle. A small part of Tide wanted to leave his life behind forever, but the guardian dragon knew he couldn’t keep running away from his problems. Tide made to his family’s castle in the dead of night. In the darkness, Tide saw LongGone and some of his other half siblings climbing up to the balcony connecting directly to his parents’ chambers. Many of the guards had been knocked out by LoneGone and her followers so Tide knew running for help would be useless. Tide flew towards and attacked LongGone. Many of Tide’s evil half siblings thought Tide was a ghost and quickly fled the scene. Although, Tide was still outnumbered by his remaining half siblings. Regardless, Tide and Agua held up against the hostile dragons until guards came to their aid. Ghoma and Misteye joined the fray of battle once they woke up as well. By the end of the battle, Tide killed LongGone. When the dust settled, Misteye and Ghoma were overjoyed that Tide had returned and that they had finally rid their lives of LongGone. Ghoma decided to throw a huge banquet to celebrate. However, Tide told his father he couldn’t stay in his castle any longer and that he needed to find his true charge. Ghoma was saddened by this, but the old king knew it was for the best. For an entire year after that event, Tide wandered from ocean to ocean with his familiar Agua. As Tide swam from different shores, the guardian dragon to love swimming and the many sea creatures he encountered. Tide, also, helped save many sea creature’s lives. One day, Tide just happened to be swimming by the shoreline of the Tsunami Flats when finally saw it. Tide knew she was his charge the minute he saw her lapping up salt water with her pink tongue. He leap from the water and ran towards the mirror dragon. Once the mirror dragon saw the guardian dragon, she to ran towards him and promptly tried to claw his eyes out. It occurred to Tide that he had met this mirror dragon before as her talons barely missed his eye sockets. This mirror dragon was Mocha. Tide tried to explain that he had realized Mocha was his charge. Mocha, being a mirror dragon, assumed that guardian dragons called their sworn enemies “charges” and continued attacking the guardian dragon. Fortunately, Drax had foreseen Mocha fatally wound Tide ahead of time. The tundra dragon had witnessed Tide dying hours after receiving the wound. Now, Drax was aware of Tide’s good deeds so he rushed to the shoreline and broke up the fight. He explained what a charge was to Mocha. Mocha told Tide she didn’t need protecting and growled at him. Despite Mocha’s hatred of Tide, Nira and Leon still allowed Tide to stay in their clan because the guardian dragon had become famous for his protection of endangered species in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Tide tried to apologize to Mocha for want he had said in the past to her, but the mirror dragon kept avoiding him. Tide grew very frustrated and angry with Mocha. The guardian dragon got into a verbal brawl with Mocha. By the end of the fight, Mocha shouted, “The reason I can’t stand you, is because you are a spoiled brat who thinks a tantrum can you get whatever you want! And I hate to disappoint, Tide, but you can never get me by acting like that!” Those words rang in the back of Tide’s mind long after Mocha had left. The guardian dragon decided he needed to put Mocha’s best interest first. Tide wrote Mocha formal apology letter by her sleeping quarters within the Aquafire Clan’s den. In the following morning, Tide packed up his things and despite his instinctive desire to stay and protect his charge, left the Aquafire Clan. Tide had swam a good hundred miles or so when Mocha had flown over the water surface and met up with the guardian dragon. Mocha explained that she was willing to give Tide another chance. As the days passed, Mocha grew to love Tide and Tide had finally found his true home in the Aquafire Clan.

Personality: Since Tide hails from a noble family he is very particular how to eat and speak. Unlike many members of the Aquafire Clan (who have a tendency to tear apart whatever they are given to eat), Tide often uses silverware to eat and keeps his mouth closed while chewing. Although, Tide doesn’t necessarily like the fact that he is the only member of his clan who has table manners, he Chas come to love the members of the Aquafire Clan for their odd eating habits. The guardian dragon walks and speaks with a noble swagger. Tide is also an expert at giving public speeches. Like his father, Tide can have a big temper and has a tendency to be a sore loser. Although, the guardian dragon can be calmed down by Mocha easily. Tideloves swimming and spends more time underwater than on land.

Clan Position: Ocean Resources Conservationist/Diplomat/Fisherdragon

Soul Mate: Mocha

Familiar: Agua has a very pessimistic and work-always-before-any-fun out look on life. Because of this, Agua never had many friends while she was in the service of the Tidelord. Agua had always claimed that the Tidelord had ordered her to watch over Tide, but in truth Agua really enjoyed Tide’s company. Agua is Tide’s voice of reason and closest friend.
