Biography
Backstory: Unlike his parents, Echo wasn’t a fighter nor a healer. The tundra dragon hadn’t inherited his mother’s ability to heal other dragons. Echo couldn’t see visions of death like his father either. Maruna and Drax never made Echo feel like a disappointment. However, the tundra dragon still felt somewhat unworthy of his lineage. When Echo was a hatchling, he always had Maru (his fearsome older sister) to protect him. However, when Maru reached adulthood, she left the Aquafire Clan to serve the Tidelord and left Echo behind. Normally in the Aquafire Clan, once a dragon reaches adulthood they are expected to choose official clan positions. Clan Positions are based off of a dragon’s skill set and benefit the clan in some way. Echo did have a skill, but the tundra dragon didn’t believe it would be useful. Echo tried help other dragons with their clan positions. However, most of the time Echo was more harmful than helpful to other dragons. When Echo tried to help his aunt, Rosette, take care of hatchlings was one of the greatest examples of Echo’s unhelpfulness. Rosette decided to leave the den for five minutes to get some food for hatchlings. When Rosette got back, the hatchlings had tied Echo to a pole and were slowly roasting him over an open fire. A few days after that event, Echo opened up to his godfather, Zowzu about how he felt unuseful. Since Zowzu had similar problem when he was young, the bogsneak dragon really wanted to help Echo find his passion. For months, Zowzu and Echo tried every odd job, but none of them were quite the right fit. Echo was being to feel like he was becoming a burden to Zowzu. The tundra dragon told his godfather to stop searching for the perfect clan Position for him. Although, Zowzu didn’t stop. One morning the bogsneak dragon happened to stumble upon Echo. The sun had just begun rising. Echo was perched on a large boulder on the shoreline and he was writing in a small notebook Zowzu never knew Echo had. Zowzu confronted Echo about his notebook. Echo finally chose to admit his darkest secret: he was a writer. Although, Echo wasn’t a poetic writer like his friend, Altitude. Echo loved to write down tales of the past and some of his father’s visions. Zowzu encouraged Echo to make writing and recording information his clan position. From that day forth, Echo began to record the Aquafire Clan’s lore and prophecies. Echo has written nearly every clan member’s information. When Echo was born his grandmother, Nira, told Drax to name him Echo. For some time, it was unclean why a Nira had instructed Drax to do so. Once Echo became the Aquafire Clan’s lorekeeper, the name made sense because the tundra dragon’s writing is—in a way—the echo of the past.
Personality: Echo is a very shy and quiet kind of tundra dragon. The dragon is often found either daydreaming or jotting down phrases/notes in his notebook. Echo tends to get very anxious easily and is very socially awkward. The tundra dragon gets scared easily, but is known to be brave when his friends’ lives are on the line.
Clan Position: Lorekeeper/Librarian
Soul Mate: Costaluna
Familiar: Echo’s “notebook” may occasionally pretend to be a normal book. Although, that’s not the case. The notebook is actually an energetic Spellbound Tome. This enchanted manuscript used to live one of the largest libraries in all of Sornieth. However, the spellbound tome wouldn’t let anyone in the library read him. Many scholars guessed the spellbound tome refused to be read because the book was only meant to be read by the gods. Little did the scholars know, the real reason the spellbound tome never showed itself to anyone was because the book didn’t have any words bond within its cover, only blank pages (and the spellbound tome found that very embarrassing). Overtime, the spellbound tome grew boring of scholars and unmoving books so it ran away from the massive library and eventually crossed paths with Echo when he was a hatchling. The spellbound tome could sense the writer in Echo and literally opened its self up to Echo could write in it. Echo named the creature, Noteworth. Nowadays, Noteworth sleeps in Echo’s fur night and flutters around him during the day. The creature often wiggles in anticipation whenever Echo picks up a writing utensil.
