alongside possum, miriam is another dragon of songbird keep with an appearance not quite characteristic of their age. unlike the gaoler, however, she’s mentally matured much like a normal dragon; while miriam is a fully grown spiral adult, she possesses a form of dwarfism that has had permanent defects on her growth. the condition is primarily harmless in terms of her overall health. she does occasionally suffer from chronic pain and has a tendency to fall ill more easily than her clanmates as a result, but nothing worse than that. in her position as songbird keep's courier, miriam strives to push herself to do the very best, making her a remarkably competitive dragon to the core. in many regards, this directly results from insecurities buried deep within her regarding her stature. after being coddled for much of her life, the spiral feels a deep-seated need to perform well in any area, just to prove she’s at no disadvantage to anyone else. in spite of her own self-doubts, miriam doesn’t mind the good-natured ribbing she receives from her friends in songbird keep. her sense of humor is as steadfast as any other clanmate's, and just as loud, too. if someone not in her good graces dared to do the same, however, the next thing to follow would likely be a swift nip rather than a laugh. miriam’s dwarfism makes weaving through the crowded marketplace or another clan’s lair a much simpler task- although the surprise many dragons feel when presented their mail by a tiny spiral is certainly palpable. they can be a bit patronizing, on occasion, but miriam always makes her true age known with a quick quip and a lash of her tail. on the bright side, her small size also makes her the fastest flier around. more often than not, miriam leaves a delivery with an shiny tip in her claws as thanks for a job well done. she genuinely enjoys her high-speed flights, so in her spare time outside work she also takes part in numerous races as well. these events truly showcase miriam’s more playful side- nothing can bolster the messenger's upbeat and excitable nature than the prospect of a good competition. as with the aforementioned tips, the treasure she earns as winnings are certainly a boon too. in the true draconic spirit, miriam can be bribed fairly easily into a favor with a shiny trinket or two. not necessarily just coin, either: she's an avid collector of all sorts of pretty stones and debris that find their way into the earth domain's plains. |
 by me  by montu ☼ ╭━━━━━━━━━╮ notes: - definitely a fav along w mahiru lol - best friends with morel, despite their opposite personalities - doesn't get the chance to often, but adores being a nosy matchmaker for her friends (aka she's responsible for parsnip and agate dating, and she's very smug about it) - her familiar fleece is like. considerably larger than her. she rides around on her antlers and its very cute - she and possum have formed the "not actually as young as we look" club, but antiope won't let them hang up the banner they made :[ (and mahirus way too cool to join, obviously) - doesn’t really identify with the femme or butch labels as a lesbian, but probably leans more towards femme! - only dragon ever with banana/beige/cottoncandy, bless ╰━━━━━━━━━╯ ☼
