Every story has a beginning, though often, it is in moments of retelling these moments of such tales are started somewhere in the middle. Perhaps some legacies are best told from their origin point, the very moment it could begin, but wherever you choose to start, there is a point before that, and another before that. All stories have to start somewhere, but there is no true way to tell a story about the start itself. That is where his story begins, not at the start, but in the middle.

He had no memory of who he was, or if he was anyone before all of it. He cannot recall his parents, or caretakers, if he ever had any, nor family should they exist. As far as he could remember, he was. Before he was, he wasn't. Core could only assume something had wiped his memories away, something dusting his entire life slate clean. After all, the idea of forgetting your origins was far more appealing than you simply apparating out of nothing. And for a while, this truth was something he accepted and didn't question. But while he was content with what he did know, it seemed others were not.

Dragons seemed to be drawn to him, claiming he was their progenitor. They called him elaborate titles and made claims more ridiculous than the last. As he simply wished to be, for whatever reason, people kept claiming he was something much greater. For a while he fought it, arguing with it. He never asked to be crowned a king, nor declared a god. But, as each would seek him out, he began to question how they discovered them. If they were drawn to him, why? If so many are mad and making strange claims, why did they all seem to share the same root of thought. He tried to simply be left alone, but he would find it easier to simply tolerate what was, and soon he began to question them. Soon, he begun to seek the truth alongside them. If he was going to learn anything as to what brought them to him, he needed to start with the facts. He needed to find common ground. He needed to have a conversation with all of them.

They seemed to have centered their lives around him. No matter where he went, they would follow. Even if none shared word, they were drawn to him. So he began to question them.

"I just close my eyes and fly. Fate guides my wings" one would say to him. Those who simply followed their heart to whatever drove them to him. While it told him little, he understood these people simply wanted something to believe in, something other than these great gods others pledge their life to. With these people, he understood their devotion to something higher than himself.

"I sensed something." Others would claim. Some saying something guiding their spirit, others sensing a disruption in some magical weave that connects all life. While he did not understand what additional sense was used to locate him, he learned from them that there was something he must have been doing or causing subconsciously. He understood from them that there was something greater than he was, and that he himself may perhaps be more than he would seem.

"It just feels like home." Others would say, claiming to be searching for parts of them they felt missing, or being around him simply filled a void. While they were the fewest compared to the other, they were also the most confusing. Did they know each other before? Was it in this life or the last? But while they were the strangest to him, they also were the ones he was the most comfortable around. Few words would be exchanged, and it was almost like they could communicate in thoughts and looks alone.

While everyone he talked to seemed to have different reasons, together he was able to paint a much larger picture. While he may not have cared about who he was, and more so of who he could become, it seemed that his origins were important to so many others. If it would improve the lives of others, why wouldn't he help them? Just as he had become, he would soon accept that he was in fact, the core to all of this. And it would be something he would have to accept and discover, but thankfully, not alone.

It doesn't matter where you go, fate will always follow. Core never really had called any place his home. He was content with wandering. But wherever he went, it seemed like others followed. Even if he left in the dead of night, either they would find him, or others. None came with ill intent, they call came to him as if they were his leader. It didn't matter where he went, eventually they would arrive.

They called him their maker, the divine one, He-Who-All-Are-Born and various other names and titles. To some, he was their hero, to others, he was their god. It wasn't something he had done, or said, as far as he knew, he simply existed and lived his life. There was no great feat to his name that would call them to him. But it didn't matter, his solitude would always come to an end, be it a few days or a few months, it was nothing more than a temporary getaway from the duties he never asked for.

There was few he would question, asking why they sought him or how. Muller was one of them, instead not seeking him but her mate. It seemed as if her mate had claimed that he was, at some point part of Core, and was seeking him to make them both more complete. But as he left on his journey of what she hoped would be short, he never returned and there was never word, so she sought him out herself. She figured, if he is looking for Core, he would eventually find him after whatever task he had set to do prior. Core listened to this, and begun to understood some of the reasons they came to him. He allowed her to accompany him, to allow her to have her reunion with her companion. In trade, it would be her duty to care and watch over the others that followed.

It didn't matter if he wanted to or not, he was now going to be the leader of a clan. If he wanted to leave, they would follow. At most, he could at least create a situation that he could enjoy rather than letting them decide for him. That being said, more would come with stories similar to Muller's. Their sibling, their friend, yearning for something missing and searching to become whole, but seemingly getting lost on the way, or as some believed, stopping somewhere else beforehand. Perhaps they were all gathering each other before going towards him, or perhaps getting some offering. With little to no information, all they could do was speculate and guess. Until then, more and more would arrive, some forever, some just to bear witness to him and return home. Some sought him as some answer to their destiny, like seeing him would reveal a life truth.

Sevelle was not the first mystic to arrive, nor the last. Arguably however, she was the most useful of them. She had taken a position to answer all questions and hear all cries from the dragons that gathered. With her, he was able to rest away from all of the chaos, and she was able to do whatever her real plan was. While he had his concerns of her intentions, he learned that it was nothing malicious, but her own curiosity and weariness about him would eventually lead him to the answers he wanted to know. Even if he didn't know what questions he wanted to ask yet.

With her, he learned of a few dragons speaking of a prophecy of some grand event, a new beginning, or perhaps an Armageddon. Some compared the idea to the shatterings of the pillar, while others claim it will be much bigger. Whatever the case, they all believe Core would be at its... core. While he didn't care much about his origins, he was interested at minimum to know what may become his future. He would answer all and any questions Sevelle had, provided he knew the answer, and together they would begin to narrow down the truth from the speculations and rumors from all of these strange devote followers.

However, it didn't end there. Core would find himself feeling watched, even in his own private chambers away from it all. His solitude invaded by what seemed to be a small spirit. It would float around him, curious and without a word. At first, he believed it to be his own imagination, before thinking it may have been a curse or something to haunt him. With peace mostly settled within the clan, he couldn't help but wonder its origins. He would ask it to identify itself, but no language would be heard. He would eventually name the spirit Daniel and would allow him to remain and keep him company. While he enjoyed his solitude, he did enjoy the company of his strange hatchling spirit. The pair would be inseparable, Daniel always seen close by, and if not seen, hiding in his shadow or under his wing. They were always seen together, though, some believed that Daniel was bound to Core, though, no one dared to test any theory.
