Lyren is the clan’s Shade afflicted seamstress, who is tasked with creating, mending and altering clothes at a clan member or customer's request. She is fine most days, burying herself in her work, but as the Shade grows within her, her mental state has begun to decline. Her current state is widespread knowledge among the clan, and they’re attempting to find a way to undo it, though some wonder if it’s even possible.

- Hatchling Biography -

Lyren was a happy go lucky hatchling, having grown up in a small pearlcatcher clan on the outskirts of the Sunbeam Ruins where she knew almost everyone and had many friends. She'd talk to anyone who'd stay to listen and she won the hearts of many with her infectious smile. She wasn’t necessarily considered beautiful by pearlcatcher standards, but she had a certain charm about her, with her bright eyes and reckless personality. Life was fun and easy and all around good.

- Adolescent Biography -

As Lyren blossomed into a strong headed and arrogant fledgling with her own goals and ideals, she began to butt heads with her parents, who expected her to marry young and become a priestess and serve at one of the many Light temples within the Mirrolight Promenade.

But Lyren wanted to adventure beyond Light’s borders and see the other lands and their grand views of towering mountains and roaring waters. After a particularly nasty fight with her parents, she snuck out after dark, thinking herself prepared and headed for the border.

She’d barely made it to the end of the Lightweaver’s territory before she was attacked by a lone, feral wildclaw who, unbeknownst to her, was carrying the curse of the Shade. During the attack, it somehow transferred to Lyren, who screamed in pain and terror as her body was slowly engulfed with rabid looking shadows.

She barely made it back before collapsing to the ground, exhausted and severely wounded, where she was found and taken to the town healers.

Their conclusion was a death sentence for Lyren.

Deeming her incurable and a possible threat, she was banished, doomed to wander Sornieth for the rest of her days. Her parents did nothing to stop her fate, and Lyren’s arrogance and easy going nature was replaced by bitter cautiousness and cold shoulders.

- Adult Biography -

Lyren wandered for years, surviving and making money as a traveling seamstress, mending torn clothes. It was a hobby she’d picked up from her grandmother, who had passed weeks before her banishment. Who knew that it would inadvertently save her life.

During a trip through the Shadowbinder’s territory, Lyren encountered Nero, who’d had a vision of her arrival. Normally, he would never have taken her back to the clan. A Shade touched dragon is never a good addition to a clan, no matter how coherent they seem to be, but he’d had a vision, which meant he was suppose to do something, only he wasn’t sure what.

So the coatl gruffy introduced himself and told her he could give her shelter, if she wished for it.

Wary but desperately wanting to rest, Lyren nodded and followed the coatl back to the lair, where Ausha, Nero and Dak debated privately about whether or not she should stay. When Nero brought up his vision, the guardians decided to let her stay, but she would have to be watched, in case something happened.

Ausha and Dak offered Lyren shelter and a home, but like everyone else, she’d have to work to keep it. Thus Lyren told them of her craft and the guardians agreed that it was enough. They welcomed her in and carved out a den and a workspace for her.

Nowadays, she keeps to herself, focusing solely on her job and the occasional break in between projects. Though she is regularly checked up on, and while it is annoying at times, she can’t blame them for worrying.

She has days where she’s nothing more than a mindless animal, prowling around snapping at the others as her magic goes wild, hurting anyone who comes too close. One those days, they strap her down on one of Pleo’s cots and wait for it to pass. This used to only happen every once in awhile, but the span between these breaks is growing shorter and shorter.

Lyren doesn’t know how much time she has left before her mind is completely consumed by her affliction.

- Additional Notes -

➤ Lyren and Ezra seem to have an unnatural hatred towards each other and no one knows why.

➤ Lyren used to adorn herself with beautiful silks and cloth intertwined with real gold back home, but she's now found that anything with real gold will burn her if she touches it, so she's taken to wearing silver instead. She doesn't know the reason for this recent development, but she has suspicions that it has something to do with the Shade.
