Skerion was born to the clan much later than his half-brother Corvus, at a time when more dragons had come to the Archive. As a result, though their numbers were still relatively small, Skerion at least had playmates. He was a rough-and-tumble hatchling with an adventurous soul, and his nursemaids in what would eventually be the Academy despaired of keeping him out of trouble.

Though the Archive itself held plenty of space to explore, Skerion was a true child of the wind, and he wanted nothing more than to explore the open sky. In his more daring moments, he would fly to the edge of the Crescendo and flirt with its powerful winds, staying just out of range of the gusts that would tumble him end-over-end.

Of course, with any dangerous venture comes the risk of something going terribly wrong. Skerion strayed too close for a little too long and was caught in an eddy that sucked him deeper into the vortex, away from the sheltering walls of the Archive and deep into hostile Talonok territory. Skerion, though well-learned, knew very little about defending himself.

Fighting the winds, with the Talonok hot on his heels, Skerion somehow managed to make it back to the safety of the Archive. The clan repelled the attack, but Skerion knew very well that now that they'd discovered Clan Silverwind, the Talonok would return. Their clan had resources, not to mention a strong lair. Though they hadn't yet had to fight for themselves, the day would come. He placed himself under the tutelage of Damocles, a clan elder who, at the time, was the only one knowledgeable about any kind of battle. He, along with Deadwalk, became the founders of the clan's Long Patrol.

Skerion's lungs burned. His tiny wings felt like they were being pierced with knives every time he flapped. The winds howled around his head, screaming almost as loudly as the Talonok warriors following him.

He'd tumbled into their flock after being sucked in by the Crescendo - and hadn't his mother warned him only a thousand times not to go near it? Skerion flattened the fins on his head and tried to push faster, even though it felt like he would drop from the sky. Every time he gained a foot of headway, a crosswind buffeted him and knocked him off course.

A spear whistled past his left wing, and Skerion felt like his heart might stop. A second later, he glimpsed a flash of stone and unearthly light, and it felt like he could breathe again. There it was. He was almost there.

He hurtled through a half-crumbled window and barely managed to pull up before striking the tower wall. It wasn't wide enough for the Talonok warrior to squeeze in after him, but Skerion barely dodged being skewered on a spearpoint before he stooped into a dive down the ruined staircase, streaking through the halls.

"Attack!" he squeaked, barely able to get the breath out. "We're under attack!"

He zipped past the remains of his tutoring for the day, stirring papers and waking a dozing Corvus. His brother bolted up, hearing him, and took to the skies as well. "Damocles! We're under attack!"

Skerion would never forget the sight of Damocles bursting from behind a hanging tapestry, his jaws open in a full-throated roar, his gleaming teeth bared, as he slammed into the first Talonok mid-flight. The warrior fell, unable to stand against the force of the elder dragon. Damocles was unstoppable. Skerion froze in midair, flapping madly to keep his position when he started to fall.

"What are you doing?" Corvus grabbed him from behind and yanked him along. "Don't stop to watch!"

"I'm going to be like him someday," Skerion said solemnly.

Size was the only thing barring Skerion from his desire to be a warrior, and the clan had magic enough for that in spades. Like his brother before him, though much more purposeful this time, Skerion changed himself from the species of his birth. Though he considered larger breeds, after a long talk with Corvus about the adjustment to relative limb size, he chose to remain somewhat smaller than one might expect of a warrior.

It hasn't stopped him from becoming the clan's most renowned warrior and clever strategist. After Damocles's retirement, Skerion assumed the role as General of Clan Silverwind's defenses. Though he does not range with the Long Patrol, like Deadwalk, he commands the Archive's immediate defenses. It's a needed role, as his predictions turned out to be true - once the Talonok knew the Archive existed, they began to organize raids against it. Though mostly unsuccessful, they have on occasion managed to make off with limited supplies and wreak havoc along the borders.

When the clan is attacked, Skerion leaps into action. With any members of the Long Patrol who are not currently in the field, and with the assistance of the Magisterium, they have been so far successful at holding their ground.
