Antique Oil Lamp 		Incandescence's earliest memory is of huddling, alone, among a dense thicket of glowing trees. Then, a small family of guardians appeared.

Lizbet and Ariel, along with their daughters Majolica and Primrose, had ventured into the Starwood Strand on a gathering mission. There, they encountered the young pearlcatcher, clutching a pearl almost as big as she was, hiding among the trees. She could not tell them where she came from, or how she got there. Only that her name was Incandescence, and she had no-where to go.

So, the guardians adopted Incandescence into their small clan.

At first, Incandescence was quiet, and timid. She made her lair tucked away in a tall tower in Ariel’s castle, and spent much of her time up there alone. When Lizbet took her to the library to listen to stories (any young dragon under Lizbet’s care would be instilled with strong literacy skills and an appreciation of stories, whether they liked it or not), Incandescence would never stray far from where Lizbet directed her.

That is, until she discovered ghost stories.

When she first heard the story about the neck ribbon, Incandescence was captivated. The young pearlcatcher had only limited instruction in reading up to that point, but she threw herself into learning the skill with sheer determination.

She began visiting the library of her own initiative, and exploring the shelves of horror stories, then of gothic literature, then of thrillers, by herself. She bonded with Primrose over their shared love of ghost stories. The two of them even began sneaking out at night to scare each other with the most terrifying tales they could find.

While Lizbet and Ariel were thrilled to see their two timid young dragons becoming more outgoing, they really wished Incandescence and Primrose were less inclined to give themselves nightmares.
