Golden Hoard
Platinum Ore
a pile of gold coins
Gold Ore
In Majolica’s exploration of the rooms beneath Ariel’s Castle (with Primrose in tow), she found a heavy wooden door, with a broken lock. What else was a young dragon (and her reluctant sister) to do, but see what was behind it?

What she found behind it was a large room, filled with shelves of sparkling gems, and overflowing chests of shining gold treasure. It spilled out into piles across the floor.

Primrose concluded they had found the castle’s treasury. Majolica concluded that she needed to climb the largest pile of coins.

She was part way up a stack of treasure, against Primrose’s advice, when it began to shift beneath her. Which Primrose told her it would, as piles of coins aren’t exactly stable.

Then, Majolica stepped on something. Something warm, and leathery, and decidedly not coin-like.

That something lashed out, and sent Majolica tumbling down across the stone floor. Primrose rushed over, and helped Majolica back to her feet.

The treasure pile moved. Coins clinked, and clattered, falling away, and rolling across the floor.

From amongst the gold, the shape of a dragon emerged. A young nocturne, as yellow, and shiny as the treasure he had been buried under.

The young, golden nocturne demanded an apology from whoever stepped on him.

Primrose was at a loss for words. Majolica, thankfully, was not. She apologised profusely, then suggested, as a way to make it up to the nocturne, she could give him a tour of the castle.

The nocturne accepted, on the condition that she didn’t step on him again. Majolica promised she wouldn’t.

The gold nocturne, who introduced himself as Aurum, turned out to be an enthusiastic castle explorer, and frequently ventured forth from his lair in the treasury to investigate its hidden corners with Majolica (and Primrose in tow).

Aurum never did explain how he came to be hiding in the treasury, camouflaged among the gold.
