History of the Hoard:
  • The lair itself is beyond price. It is an original cliffside dwelling from the forgotten time, carved deep into bedrock.

    Despite its stark, timeless appearance, the architecture is impressively advanced, incorporating cantilevered balconies, an open floor plan that encourages continuous air flow, and a system of channels directing water from the nearby underground river to multiple bathing rooms and reflecting pools. The classically arched doorways and decorative pillars are believed to pay tribute to Earthshaker.


  • The vault contains, in addition to modern currency, several tons of coal coins.

    In the Ice Age, coal was prized to the point that in some places it was used as money. Coal coins bear the mark of the mine that produced them; a city state with a productive mine could fund a large army and become a force in its region.

    Although the surrounding land has long since been plundered of its coal, the fortune in this lair has been passed from generation to generation since those days. Like the bedrock lair, it professes ancient wealth.


  • The east gallery houses the collection of Golira, the XIIth Seer of the Vein.

    Extinction fascinated Golira, and so she hoarded remnants and depictions of flora and fauna that no longer exist, or that may never have existed. Even today, scholars that visit this cabinet of curiosities disagree on which are which. For example, observe this beetle vase on the right. The design is abstract, and doesn't appear to match any living species. Was it only a potter's flight of fancy?

    Whereas, on the left, see this branch. At first it may look unremarkable, but closer inspection reveals a structure and grain unlike any known tree's. A slow-time spell has preserved this branch here for millennia, and if removed it would crumble to dust in seconds. Yet it was considered a living fossil even when it was found.
