B I O G R A P H Y

______ Good evening, young one. I am Karaglen, caretaker of Verglas Manor. I started the clan that resides there, even though I do not lead it. We were once simply a group of friends wandering around and exploring Sornieth. What adventures we had, wandering along the Tidelord’s coast! So many dragons came those years, but few stayed long. My dearest friend was Loran, who I suppose was our leader, now that I think back on it. We followed where he went, keeping him from loneliness. At least, we followed until his journey took him south, so far south that he stood on the Flamecaller’s southern shore, ad yearned to go farther still. Many turned back then, to continue drifting, but I could not. Who can turn their back on their oldest friend? Not I. Not some of the others. The desperate ones, who had no sweet memories of this continent, and those like me, whose home was with the clan, no matter where that took us.

______ We left. Our small group sailed south on an explorer’s ship, not knowing what to expect. The explorer was headed for unknown lands, but so were we, and none of us truly cared where we ended up. All was calm for two days, but on the third, a great wind swept us away, tossing our ship about until we crashed upon an icy shore, and we stumbled out of the wrecked ship into a terrible snowstorm. We thanked all the gods for our lives, but as the days went on, our relief diminished. For the simple snowstorm had turned into a terrible blizzard, with winds strong enough to rip ancient evergreens from the earth and carry them away, and a cold so sharp you felt to be made of glass that would shatter any second.

______ Our small group made camp in the forest, where we hoped for some cover from the elements. We stayed there for weeks, hoping for the storm to blow over, and becoming fearful when it only got worse. One day, we woke up and Loran had left, only leaving us a message. He told us to stay safe and turn back, leaving him to continue his search on his own. Now, we were not about to turn back at that point, so we followed his quickly fading trail into the storm. Loran had not gotten far, and we found him forcing his way through the snow. None of us could form words to convince him to wait out the storm, so we simply joined him on his path.

______ After a while, Loran started to act… odd. He was distracted, and looked about at every howl of the wind, like he was listening to someone. At one point, I even thought he would blow away if he tried to get any farther out of our trench! Frian and Meria attempted to drag him back down, but he simply threw up his wings and let the storm carry him off! I panicked, and leapt into the storm to chase him down, not thinking of my own safety. I tried hard to follow Loran’s huge shadow, but the wind seemed to push me back while it pushed him farther and farther from my sight. I quickly lost him, as well as any sense of direction.

______ I fought to stay aloft and hoped there was nothing ahead, for no matter how I strained I could not see anything in front of me. All of a sudden, a shiver in the air shook my feathers and the storm seemed to be sucked from the sky, only leaving cool breezes and a crystal blue sky. I was left soaring miles above the glittering white snow, rich green of pines, and a hulking fortress made of pale grey stone.

All but Skydancers, Coatls, Nocturnes and Bogsneaks were there at launch.
Some were Kickstarter based. Skydancers are a breed that were actually created by a person who paid a thousand something dollars to have their own dragon breed implemented into FR. I assume they got to pick the flight as well where they were added. Skydancers were added in 2013 a few months after launch.
Spirals, Ridgebacks, Snappers, Wildclaws and Pearlcatchers were Kickstarter stretch goals, meaning when the Flight Rising KS reached a certain money point the breeds would be added into the site when the site opened.
Imperials were a kickstarter only breed. You got them buy buying certain tiers during the kickstarter, which is why you can't get the scrolls anymore.

Nocturnes were not released until Dec 2014, so yes Shadow went a full year with no breed. Fire went longer without a breed, Coatls, they were the last Flight to get their official breed.
There was less slat about it and more anticipation to know what breed would go to which flight. Now that every flight has at least one breed staff are working on releasing the next breeds for single breed flights.
