Echo was born blind at a time when many hatchlings were abandoned for such things. Life was already hard for the early civilizations, and having such a needy hatchling would only make things harder. But his mother refused to cast him out and worked tirelessly to raise him. Echo was a quiet hatchling, and grew into a quiet dragon who learned how to “see” the world around him through touch. He was no more incompetent than any sighted dragon, and his other senses increased in intensity to more than make up for his blindness.

Interacting with the world from a different perspective left Echo with a fascination for the truth, as well as the mechanics at which the world worked by. When he was able to prove that a well-loved but wicked dragon had stolen the village temple’s coffers, simply because he was easily overlooked and willing to point out the truth others didn’t want to see, he was surprised to find himself ascending to the heavens. Becoming a god of truth wasn’t something he had ever envisioned for himself, but he embraced using his newfound abilities to seek out more truths, righting ancient wrongs and misconceptions. With the powers of the heavens available to him, he could restore the vision he’d never had, but he decided that he didn’t need it and embraced his diversity.

One of the first to ascend after Taji, Echo’s dedication to the truth earned him a spot among the Highest Council of the God’s Realm, where he might help decide the fate of the heavens and settle disputes and arguments. He took to the task wholeheartedly, and quickly gained a reputation for finding the validity in any claim—a boon to those who were innocent but the bane of those who had something to hide. It was Echo who finally uncovered Icarus’ corruption and how his fellow Councilmember Anax had covered it up. He spearheaded the way in getting them both stripped of their godhood and cast back down to the mortal realm.
