 Caster and Pollux had raised themselves together, doing whatever they could to make enough money to survive.Sometimes it was difficult, other times it seemed impossible, until a grumpy elderly fae had offered to put them up for the night if they helped him carry the kegs of mead that had just been delivered. That was the first time they went into The Lupanar. After a hard days work they settled down infront of the fire and their new master scowled at them. "Get some sleep, I'll probably throw you out in the morning"  Three Years later and Caster had grown into a force to be reckoned with. Years hauling the barrels, carrying unconcious patrons and breaking up bar fights had turned him into a machine of corded muscle and razor claws. He had stepped up to run the front of the bar whilst his brother kept the books, working long days with little complaints and a lot of patience. it was on one of these days when a new customer came through the heavy oaken doors and into his life. |

  He only really noticed her when she ordered a drink - cheap but strong - and even then he didn't really care that she seemed to spend her entire stay watching him, despite his brother's insistent nudges and teasing eyes. In fact he only really began to take note when, as well as paying for her drink, she would tell himself he was going to throw them away, but most of the time they ended up on shelves in the back rooms. Pollux loved pointing that out. One time Caster asked a question about that day's bauble and he learnt far more than he had bargained for. He learnt her name, Jaina. Her occupation, Claw-for-hire. And he listened to the story of her latest job. That night, when The Lupanar closed it's doors, Jaina did not leave.

They continued that dance for months, until Jaina confessed that she believed Caster was her charge. He was overcome with regret; the love a guardian had for their charge was strong and fierce, but he knew that his heart belonged first and foremost to The Lupanar - He could never love her like she loved him. The next day he refused to take anything more than payment for the drink. He steeled himself to her sadness, because he believed that she must be mistaken... how could they possibly work when their feelings were so imbalanced?
