Drakonnan was once an apprentice blacksmith working for Yulgar, one of the clan's three smiths, who had traveled abroad to visit family in the Ashfall Waste and learn from the masters of the Blacksand Annex.

What he instead encountered was something that would change the course of his life forever: The Akriloth Project. A titanic monster, released by some madman into the Wastes with the intent of spreading the power of Fire to all corners of Sornieth. Drakonnan lost both his family and his teachers in the initial attack. In the coming days he found that the some of the fire magic radiating off of the creature had stuck to him, granting a strange affinity to fire that was burning away at him.

At his lowest, came Xan. A wandering pyromancer suffering a similar problem with his own magic, the strange wildclaw offered to teach Drakonnan how to control this new fire if he agreed to certain terms. He didn't hesitate for a second. And so Drakonnan emerged like a phoenix from the ashes of his former life, ready to learn, and tragically unaware that his new master was the one who had set it ablaze in the first place.
