As far as Riadne is concerned, there is no problem in this world that cannot be solved by a liberal application of specially adapted spiders. Naturally, this belief has not earned her very many friends.

Riadne is a practitioner of the horrifying unique art of arachnomancy, found only among members of a certain clan in the Tangled Woods. One is either born with the gift for it, or isn't, and Riadne was certainly born with it. Her command over spiders is such that she's able to alter them to fit whatever task she has in mind, growing larger, smaller, or with certain key traits, then controlling them remotely with precise bursts of magic.

Riadne joined the clan almost completely on accident, having been searching for a specific sort of rare spider that was found only in the clan's territory. She'd been intending on staying for only a few weeks to study the spider and collect specimens, but then clan defenses happened, and her lab kept getting bigger, and the hatchlings kept eating her spiders so she had to get more, and this cute Tundra named Izaac started hanging around and getting all interested in her work....
