Christmas dragons are special dragons. They only breed during the Christmas season and are in charge of the Christmas celebrations. Once a year, during the Christmas season, they stop whatever other duties they have and focus solely on Christmas and making it special for the whole clan. There are feasts and special hunts organized for the occasion. Dancer takes special pride in her Christmas decorating and planning. So it seemed only fitting that the dragon named Christmas would become her mate and help her in all things Christmas.
When Holly joined the clan, Dancer took her under her wing to teach her about everything Christmas, knowing that one day she would pair with another Christmas dragon, possibly one of her own sons, to carry on the Christmas tradition. She had hoped that Nightshade, since he had been hatched during the Christmas season would also take an interest, but he decided to follow Impa instead. Dancer knew she couldn't force a dragon to be a Christmas dragon and if you weren't raised as one it did tend to be a weird life. While other dragons were having nests year round and kept to regular schedules, Christmas dragons had a different lifestyle. It was a lifestyle that she wouldn't have traded for anything in the world.
