Nylite The Mechanic |
As you explore, you enter what seems to be a hallway under contstruction, as the metallic panels that line the wall are laying across the floor, assorted tools scattered around them. Crouched by an open panel is a wildclaw, wrapped in the thick fabric of the Highland Scavenger's gear with metallic braces on his wings. He seemed to be breathing heavily, the Highland Scavenger's gear re-purposed into some sort of breathing device; the wires were replaced with tubes connecting to filters and a single canister. "Ah, hello there!" His voice was muffled and wheezing as he turned towards you, "I heard someone was around here. My name is Nylite, welcome to the Galestorm Flyers!" |
Origins
Nylite’s was born into the high ranks of the Sunbeam Ruins, fighting to keep himself there, and comfortable in knowing he was always right. It was not hard for anyone to see that these facts led Nylite to be arrogant, overconfident, and cruel to others. For the longest time, no one did anything about it; who would challenge a fierce warrior such as Nylite? It was a clever spy that devised the plan to rid the clan of Nylite, speaking of great glory coming to the Light dragon who could cross the Shifting Expanse unharmed. Nylite, always a glutton for glory, took flight immediately, soaring across the land as quick as his white wings would take him. Once in the desert, things took a different turn when the lightning storms native to the region hit. Unused to the dangerous conditions, Nylite ducked into a cave nearby, settling in for the night to plan his next move. Unfortunately for him, the cave was not as sturdy as it looked, and it collapsed on him, trapping him in rubble for three days until another Wildclaw by the name of Zara rescued him. Nylite by then was hungry and exhausted, willingly following his savior to the nearest clan: the Galestorm Flyers. There, he was treated to kindness and food, as well as medical attention from the ever patient Serasorth. Nylite, properly humbled by his screw up and lack of knowledge, was largely silent during this. It didn’t take long for Serasorth to diagnose a problem Nylite had begun to feel; his lungs were clogged with rubble, causing him to struggle to breath. With the assistance of electrical engineers, a Highland Scavenger’s garb was repurposed into a breathing apparatus, allowing Nylite to breath. Still, his freedom was limited to the Flyer’s vast cavern, so Nylite took up apprentice with the electricians of the clan, carving his own place in their ranks. |
Personality
While Nylite first began his life as an arrogant, overconfident, occasionally cruel dragon with a spiteful streak, his life-changing ventures into the unstable caves changed him drastically. Humbled by the errors he made in his adventure, Nylite became withdrawn from other dragons, more often keeping his opinions to himself rather than boasting them loudly. When he found out that his lungs would not function properly again, he took it as a sign from the Gods; his body had changed, and it was his time to change too. He became kinder to other dragons--slowly, but he did--more often offering them surprisingly sound advice and finding his patience in dealing with dragons suffering heartbreak or mental breakdowns. Soon enough, Nylite took it upon himself to work alongside the electricians of the clan, throwing himself vigorously into his work. Where he previously exhibited laziness and lack of drive, Nylite now thrived in working hard from dawn till dusk, or as long as his lungs would allow it. He no longer picked fights--partly because of the strain it would place on his body--and instead sought to become a peacekeeper between the familiarly reckless dragons in the Galestorm Flyers. Though he still shows the occasional burst of “know-it-all” behavior, Nylite has drastically changed over the years, and most definitely for the better.
