Although he was born from the Sunset line, Apollo has an affinity for word magic. His father left before he was born, only his mother stayed to raise him but she wasn’t the affectionate type. Maybe she was embittered by the resentment of her mate, or rather the curse that lay upon her and her unborn children. For no mate stayed to raise their offspring with her. As soon as Apollo could fend for himself, she left him, too. Orphaned at a young age, Apollo wandered through the Starfall Isles, with no place to call home and no dragons to call family. Determined to learn as much as he could, he studied with scholars, spellcasters, warlocks and even theurges. Apollo became a powerful and charismatic sorcerer, blessed not only by his Dawnguard heritage but also the Arcanist himself. Yet something was lacking from his life. Because as much as he studied and learned, there was a void within him that couldn’t be filled by knowledge. He often felt lonely, an outsider who was only accepted into a community because of his remarkable magical skills and talents. He wondered whether there were any others who carried the same curse like him. His mother had hinted that there were many more like him, all bound by the same ancestors and their curse. So, one day, he set out to find his true family. Apollo followed the rumors and tales surrounding his bloodline which led him finally to his bloodline’s ancestral homeland, the arid and stormy desert of the Shifting Expanse. Here, in these storm-tossed deserts, he found others that were like him. Born from the same bloodline, all sharing a similar fate. But even amongst his kin, he felt like an outsider. And he didn’t like the constant thunderstorms and dead landscape. He also felt oddly out of touch with his magic here, which unsettled him. Sadly, he had to admit to himself that he couldn’t stay in the Shifting Expanse. Turning his back on the countless rods and spires crackling with electricity, he set out to cross the great canyon again, knowing that he would never return. On the edges of the canyon, a pair of dragons was waiting for him. Two large Imperials, one fiery-golden and bright, one murky and dark in color. Apollo vaguely remembered these unalike twins, they were direct descendants of one of the founders. And they were waiting for him. It was Aeneas, the golden one, who finally approached him and requested to join him on his journeys. They, like him, felt an urge to leave these lands behind them and venture to new shores. Furthermore, they had heard of his reputation, his unrivaled magical skills and knowledge. They humbly asked him to be their mentor and teacher. Without really thinking about it, Apollo agreed. From this day forth, the three Imperials have never separated and became as close as brothers. Apollo had finally found his family. |

Information Name // Apollo Role // Mage | Teacher | Mentor Apollo has established a “school for magic” in the Forgotten Sanctuary. Everyone who wishes to study disciplines outside nature’s inert and primal magic, is welcome to attend his seminars and classes. He has also established a section in the library dedicated to arcane phenomena and magical theories. What is left of the hundreds of years old scrolls or stone tablets of the original Sanctuary’s library, is carefully cataloged and restored by him. Personality // Apollo is a very charismatic and handsome Imperial. And he knows how to use this to his advantage. He is a very skilled sorcerer, always willing to improve himself or learn new things. He has an open mind; his fields of study are very brought and there is nothing he deems not worthy of his attention and time. Although he masters the “Higher Arcanae” with ease, the wild and primal magic of the druids eludes him. Nonetheless, he is eager to study, at least theoretically, these more primordial variety of magic. Friends // Apollo, Accolon and Aeneas are as close as brothers. What initially started as a mentor-student relationship turned into a relationship defined by deep respect and love for each other. As different as the three Dawnguards are, they share a very close bond and value each other’s opinions. In the Sanctuary, Apollo has grown rather close to Sunfyre, a scholar and founding member of the Clan. They both share an interest in history and value knowledge above all. Sunfyre is also the head librarian and together, they have the ambitious goal to establish the biggest and most comprehensive library in the Viridian Labyrinth. Word Affinity // "Word magic draws on the strength of the mind, and is tailored to spells and enchantments that must be spoken or written. Magic circles, protective runecharms, and incantations are all forms of Word magic. Dragons with an Affinity for Word magic are typically charismatic and persuasive, and are frequently able to exert a strong pull on the minds of others. Word magic is strengthened by faith; the greater a dragon’s belief in the spell they are performing, the more powerful the results will be. The use of a dragon’s name will strengthen the effect of a Word-aligned spell performed on that individual." |
