Rydian

The walls of the nest are toweringly large, but that's hardly going to stop Rydian! Every day he scales it, digging in his claws and putting one paw after the other... until Uncle Bahram grabs him and gently nudges him back inside. Hmmph. Mom and Dad let him climb the nest. They even let him climb over their backs! So does Esten; he loves his big brother. If only he had frills to understand how he felt...
Now that Mom, Dad, and Uncle Bahram aren't constantly looking over him, there's nothing to stop him. He can flee as far away from the lair as he wants, see all manner of sights and sounds, then come back and share them with everyone. The journey's pretty rough, though. Good thing Esten's there to help carry supplies. Mainly food. Long journeys and fae do not typically mix. Best brother ever! And to top it off, they serve an important role in the clan, bringing back new materials without needing to put together an expedition party.
Esten might like the long trips around the world to trade with other clans, but Rydian could do without. It's always so hard to understand most of the people they meet, and meeting others of his breed is pretty rare.

On the upside, he gets to see all sorts of things he's never seen before. Flutes made by wind dragons. Star charts by the arcane flight. The world is so gargantuan, so monolithic, he could go on expeditions with Esten for millennia and still never see all of it! It always boggled him how so much wealth was produced. Where did all these people live?
