Biography

Scout's Omen

"I don't know why drakes call me bad luck. I've never had any bad luck and I'm around myself all the time."
Guardian: Scout Captain | Mate: ? | Story: Over Thrown --
VHJvQd0.png

MA1yFru.png Omen has chronic bad luck... which he gives to anyone that's around him. He doesn't know why this happens, but it's been that way since birth. For the longest time he wandered alone, afraid to get to near other drakes. His bad luck has never really harmed anyone, it's really just been an annoyance, but he was afraid to chance it. Besides, as soon as most clans figure out it's him they usually toss him out anyway.

The exception to this rule is Blaze and his merry band of scouts. They take the bad luck with an sigh and a shrug and carry on. The reason for this is because of the work Omen does for the team. They actually utilize his bad luck to get what they need when they need it. Commander Blaze recently had commissioned a pearl necklace that counteracts his bad luck and balances him out, so he can interact with others now. He wears it constantly, but does take it off when he's close to his mark.

Omen is not, for any reason, allowed near the Technomancer or Mage wards. Less there be a catastrophic melt down of some sort. Even with the necklace on no one, including him, will chance it. Another interesting note is that Omen is quite usually happy, even during events that should make him irate or sad. The mages have noted that during the times he should feel duress the curse is worse then normal and have started to form the idea that the curse is directly related to his emotions. Sorrow seems to be the worst, which reared it's ugly head during the battle of Sins of the Deities. They point to a battle in the fight where he was present. Somehow an entire battalion of attacking Serthis was crushed by a Guardian drake that inexplicably tumbled from the sky. Thankfully, the only ones that received that bad luck was the enemy. That was the one and only time the bad luck turned deadly and many assume it was because of the extreme duress of the fight.

WIP Wordy words here. Most likely many of them.

It's not my fault! I have absolute no idea how everyone around me comes into such bad luck. Especially, since I seem to have such splendid fortune. Well, with the exception of settling in one place that is. Before the clan, no one particularly cared for my, shall we say, quirky curse. Now, mind you, the bad luck has yet to cause any catastrophic events --thankfully-- but I can't say anyone really appreciated the little things that went wrong. One can only take so much of their clocks stopping, or their meticulously written works suddenly being coated in ink, and lets not forget the exploding coffee pots (just to name a few).

Naturally, it didn't take long for them to isolate the problem and I was once again on my own. It would have been nice if someone had taken the time to figure the issue out, or at the very least not chased me out with pitchforks and torches (that happened more times then I care to count). It's been that way for as long as I can remember.

-I want to describe his being alone when he hatched, but this is not it-???Going back as far as my memory will allow I can remember being alone when I was hatched, though I was not far from a clan, which was good because my newborn cries managed to summon adults to resolve my loneliness... and hunger... and dirty bottom. ???

Cubhood was mostly okay (you know, barring the fact my toys were always broken. The other cubs wouldn't let me play with their pretty new toys. It was a totally respectable decision). I at least had adults around that didn't wish to toss me out before I could walk. The curse then, I think, wasn't as bad, which undoubtedly lent to that favorable condition of having a roof over my head.
