Oracle of the Stars

B I O G R A P H Y

Hailing from a distant land off the shore of Sornieth, known as Remnant, the small kit crossed the sea before being taken under the wing of an Imperial named Daybreak. Given a name, Duviing began intensive training to become an oracle for the clan, one that would benefit them for years to come. He and his new mentor became close, a bond that some would venture to call something close to that of a father and son relationship. Not once did Duviing falter or question his training and followed through with the path that had been placed before him, feeling as if this was truly destiny's plan for him.

Through his rigorous training he was introduced to his future mate, a Nocturne going by the name of Zira, who was traveling down a path much like his. He couldn't shake the feeling that perhaps both of their destinies would somehow be intertwined for life. Years later, Duviing had finally reached the end of his training, and earned his current apparel from Daybreak as a gift and symbol of his new role. Duviing felt as if he had completed his goal, reaching the end of his path in life and was ready to settle into his duties.

Now, the seven-tailed kitsune ventures out into the night, regardless of the weather, to read the stars and constellations above to gain hints of what may come within the future, leading to many of his clanmates calling him the "Oracle of the Stars", a title that Duviing wears with pride. He has since grown ever closer with Zira, yet despite that, he keeps their interactions professional due to their duties. He frequently meets with his newfound mate to compare their findings after a long night's work, often debating for extended periods of time before coming to an agreement as to what their findings point towards. During his reports, he holds his tongue out of respect for his leader, leaving Zira to suggest potential courses of action as he knows deep down that whatever path is chosen will always be the right one. Rumor is that Daybreak taught Duviing an ancient language in secret during his training, and it's been said that he can often be heard murmuring to himself in this same language as he reads the stars.

B I O G R A P H Y

When not on duty as the clan's oracle, Duviing often serves as an adviser of sorts for his leader. Due to his wisdom and gentle nature, he's often easy to approach when Nightwing needs to confide in him. He often gives her as much advice as he can, though choosing his words in such a way that gently encourages the tiny dragon to come up with her own ideas, knowing that she can't always depend on him forever.

Duviing is exceptionally good with the clan's hatchlings, often being more than willing to play and teach them whatever they wish to know. He's also happy to simply let them snuggle against him on cold nights, as his thick fur provides added warmth and protection from the bitter cold in the Southern Icefield, sometimes curling his tails around them to help maintain their warmth. In rare instances, Duviing's clanmates may catch him singing softly to the hatchlings huddled at his side as they drift off into sleep. On occasion, he'll take them out with him when reading the stars, teaching them the constellations as he shares old stories of his mentor and father figure. Duviing is also among those in the clan that sees hatchlings off when they leave home, always imparting one final piece of advice as they set off on their own journey.

Since being taken in and raised as a kit, he was more than content with his state of being despite knowing full well that he was different from his clanmates. He never felt the need to question who or what he really was, despite spending his entire life never knowing the truth. This feeling, however, was soon erased with the arrival of a new member of the clan, a fellow kitsune by the name of Minerva. Caught off guard by how similar they were, he questioned the Wraith Yako, only to be surprised further when he learned of his heritage through her response. Curiosity peaked, Duviing immediately began using his free time trying to learn more about his kind, about himself. The more he learned, the more his interest and understanding grew. Despite now knowing the truth, he hasn't allowed it to change who he is, instead using his newfound knowledge to further educate his clanmates and step into a new world of possibilities.
