The Watchers are a sect of the Night Hunters. The Night Hunters, created by Rainier, are a large, extensive group of Clan Paladin that are focused on any all things that have to do with the Shade, specifically hunting down and either containing or destroying anything associated with it, along with growing the knowledge and information about every aspect of the Shade. Raguel joined the Night Hunters soon after gaining full adulthood, and it was only about a year after that that Rainier and Galiwyth appointed him as a leader of a very specific sect in the Night Hunters, named The Watchers.

Rainier explained that The Watchers were to be a project of sorts, a group that still works alongside the Night Hunters, but also to focus on their own 'goals'. The Watchers are to specifically target living beings - whether they're Dragons, Beastclan, or any manner of creatures and entities - that have at all been associated with the Shade in any form, and whether they can be saved or not. Determined to prove himself, Raguel easily agreed, and recruited the help of a few then current members of the Night Hunters as well as a few other member of Clan Paladin whose expertise would help in his efforts.

Before long, The Watchers grew to seven permanent members; all of them also members of Night Hunters and lends their hands to assist their parent group, but focus primarily on The Watchers' own goals. Other members of the Clan easily lend their hand to help when requested.

Along with the growth in membership of the sect, The Watchers goals and mission grew wider and broader in definition, including infiltrating and learning of the Shade having infiltrated any Dragon or Beast Clans, and attempting to find a permanent 'cure' to those inflicted by the Shade. More recently, spirits and souls of those that have been afflicted by the Shade have been on the list of whether they can be 'saved' or not. The Watchers always try to save those they can by whatever means necessary - as long as they don't break the Rules, of course - but they are also not afraid to eradicate any that can not be saved.

To achieve their goals, Raguel allows and directs the other Watchers to using what many would call 'less than savory' methods to getting the job done. The Watchers are strict on the Rules they do have set out, however; if any part of what they do goes against a Rule set out by Rainier, the Council, or Raguel himself, they change to another method immediately, no matter how otherwise 'morally ambiguous' it may seem.

Raguel is a son of Oberon and Titania of Clan Wicked Wings of The Observatory. Him and his clutch brothers were born during the time of the Starfall Celebration, and as such are even more space obsessed than children of their parents usually are. In Raguel's case, his obsession manifested through his magic, which the Magic Society claims is of "Mage" status; magic geared towards battle. His magic appears to others as either stardust-like or comet streaks, and has used his ability to teleport safe distances away when his clutch brother Saros tried to play with him. Those of the Magic Society want him to begin his training to control his magic, or at least hope that if he moves on to a new clan he'll get the chance to train.
