Ealynis

Ealynis is a cold, distant, intellectual dragon (as one once described him : "not very nice"). He was once a passionate scholar, thrilled by new magic discoveries and eagerly researching various magic fields - although rather haughty and self-confident. Mana flew in his veins more than blood, and he was perfectly attuned with his birth element. He was adopted during the clan early days, while we were just opening to dragons from other flights, as we were recruiting Flight Representants. Ealynis was intrigued, thought he quickly became more interested in our magic studies and the beginiing of the College of Mages that was made of clan leaders Sedewus and Welgan, Erhune, Elyäh and Birlazi alone at that time.

He did not get along very well with most of his adoption clanmates, especially the new young Representatives such as Wulcar. But Ealynis was hard-working, and his magic skills were much appreciated. He, however, was thinking of leaving the clan to create his own one, perhaps on the Arcane territory.

Everything changed the moment he found himself on the path of the beast.

It was a shade-touch magically-attuned creature, rampaging the surroundings. At a time Ogrenat Clan was much smaller and way less defended : we were blissfully unaware of the threat getting closer to our shelter, and there were no guard guides nor fighters to scout the bamboo forest.
Ealynis stumbled upon the creature a couple Imperial walking days away from the clan. He knew instantly he was in danger, but his first thought went to all the studies he could do with such an interesting subject. At first, he tried to capture it, but things didn't go as planned. He had to slay the shade-touched monster, and the fight had been much tighter than his over confidence let him consider. He went all in. The fight let left him exhausted, severely injured, and deprived of all magic he had. He barely made it back to clan and fainted in front of our doors.
We took him in and did our best to heal him with what little restauration magic knowledge we had, and his body rocovered - his magic, however, seemed gone for good.
During his recovery, Mithral was the one taking care of him. She was studying magic but was struggling to find her place in the clan, and diving into the role of healer was the spur she needed. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to heal Ealynis, and her grumpy, angry and withdrawn patient slowly grew attached to her. She was a big part of his recovery, and when he finally was able to work again, they were closer than he had ever been with any clan member.
He healed, forgot about his dreams of fouding his own clan, came back to study at the College ; and he hoped this was but a temporary ailment. But his magic never came back.
The young enthusiastic scholar became a bitter, taciturn, withdrawn adult. Knowing he could not spark any magic from inside, he restrained himself to theorical studies, swallowing his disappointement and his bitterness.
He finally accepted to become our Arcane Flight Representative, agreeing that this would allow him to be useful to the clan without needing any magic practise. He gradually became less haughty with other clan members and began to fit in better ; and he was visint Mithral a lot. Her dedication to find a way to cure him, spending her days and night researching his condition, eased his pain and sparked admiration in him. One day, after another fail at curing him, as she was disappointed with herself, he confessed his love.
They're officially mated since then and it's obvious she is what keeps him going with his disability.

Ealynis is still our Arcane Flight Representative, as even without his magic he know very well their ways and customs, but he suffers greatly for what he feels is a disgrace among his kind. After the Bounty of Elements, he also took the role of arcane leywarden, but he's looking for an apprentice who would be able to attune themself with the leyline to replace him mor efficiently.

Wife: Mithral

Mithral, the head healer, is researching ways to cure his magic lost. Her current most promising hypothesis involves sharing magic with clanmates, a solution inspired by their children, who were born with several cases of feeble and instable magic (most of them joined the Windsinger or other clans). This solution may especially work at Clan Ogrenat after the great protection ritual who put everyone asleep until they regenerate their magic, as every clan member shared one mana channel with the others during the ritual. The natural ability of clan leader Sedewus to spread harmony among his clan may even be impregnating the very earth in Clan Ogrenat's territory, making magic sharing within the members a natural ability.
