Biography

The sounds around her were deafening.

Her wings would not obey her, trembling she could not take flight as she was being jostled from fleeing dragons. Through that mass of terrified bodies she saw it. The snapping jaws of a long since rotted creature, their blank, sightless eyes haunting her for years to come.
It was different this time. The faded and crumbling scales from the faces before her were familiar now. She recognized them, her children, her siblings, her mother even, as she stood frozen, watching as her kin rise through the mass of dragons to devour her.

Yuei awoke screaming and drenched in sweat. A nightmare. It was just another nightmare she told herself as she forced her trembling legs to stand. "You got out. You escaped." She breathed to herself. It had become a mantra now. You escaped. You're alive. But yet the nightmares persisted.

She heard a rasp at the entrance of her room. "Mother." Selene paused tentatively "You've been dreaming again."

Yuei took a steadying breath "It's nothing to worry about, love."
"It was that Emperor again.."
"It's fine. Selene."
"You haven't talked about it since-"
"I said it was fine." She moved to pass her daughter "It's early. A good time for fishing."

The early light of dawn had just barely crested over the Sea of a Thousand currents as Yuei emerged on the outskirts of the dense forest that made up their island. She sighed, easing herself into the water. Though she had been born in the sea she belonged to the skies. A messenger for the clan she traveled to all parts of Sornieth, reporting current events for her clan and relaying prophecies to allies. She had been in the Sunbeam Ruins at the time, reporting the shadow anomaly that had occurred when the Emperor attacked.

Unlike her dream however, she'd fled. Flown faster than she's ever done before, only looking back once to witness the horror that ravaged the land. But she'd done it. She escaped when others had not.
