It had been a time since she'd left her home to join her mate in the Sea of a Thousand currents, and though she'd thought she'd known the Sea's temperament by then; nothing could have prepared her for the storm that hit them. No one predicted the calamity of that day; and for years after fingers would be pointed and anger would be misplaced.

The day started calm, without wind as it had been for the few days prior. Flying had been near impossible to achieve, and thus contact outside of the clan had been at a minimal. Yet this brought little concern for the clan.
