Nadalin is a special child. She doesn't remember much of her life before she arrived at Cypress Hall but she does remember a beautiful matron giving her her Nature Sprite companion and handing her off to a strange pair of hands. She thinks those hands were Johanna but she was so small and fresh from her egg that she could hardly remember.

She grew up on Windy Isle mostly alone. She could leave but she enjoyed the solitude. There she tended to the island’s bamboo stand and crafted beautiful kites the likes of which you’d only see from master kite makers in the Plateau. And yet she knew exactly how to make them.

Then one day a dragon she’d never met came to collect some bamboo for sale and unthinkingly she asked if he was Tyberion. A name she’d never heard or said before. But no. That was exactly who he was. He was instantly smitten with her and she was taken with him as well. She couldn’t shake the feeling she’d known him before. That she knew him from somewhere else even though they’d never met before.

They lived on Windy Isle together for some time before a representative from the ancient Windshear Caravan came to the Isle and begged them to return with them. They couldn’t tell them why but it would be explained. So they went with the dragon to the dilapidated city of Mu deep in the jungles of the Gladeveins.

There she met a dragon named Ars and he knew her and she… knew him! He was so happy to see her and called her by name and ‘sister’. He also apologized profusely for the representative for bothering them as he did not send them. Ars was one of the leaders and Progenitors of the Caravan but the clan had since gone Silent after the passing of his sister and her mate mate: Nadalin and Tyberion. He explained that there had been a great and terrible battle that had decimated Mu and nearly killed the two. But Nadalin was a Progenitor and not entirely capable of death. But she couldn’t keep living as she was. So Ars used powerful magic to put her magic and soul into a dragon egg. When she hatched he gave her to a dragon to take to an old ally who would look after her until she could grow up and decide what she wanted to do with her life; Johanna.

As for Tyberion Ars had no idea how he was how he was. Certainly he shared a soul with the old Tyberion but he didn’t know how. It was most exciting for him to research one day, if he could.

Ars explained that while the Caravan was Silent that the clan couldn’t continue forward, and it would never awaken without both its Progenitors. If Nadalin chose to leave later that was a choice she could make herself but they couldn’t Wake their clan or their great city ship without both of them. Nadalin agreed to help Ars and with more power than she knew she had she helped Ars awaken the ancient city. Mu became alive again and there was much celebration and rebuilding.

But the joy didn’t last.

Nadalin had grown up on an island in a swamp. She wasn’t used to the bowing or dragons treating her like a goddess among them. After only a few years she couldn’t take it anymore and she wanted to go home. To her new home, with Tyberion. Ars bid her farewell in kindness and said he knew she wasn’t exactly like his sister he lost and he always knew she’d leave eventually. Mu wasn’t her home anymore.

Nadalin returned to the Hall with Tyberion and they returned to Windy Isle to make a new life for themselves. Every year, on the day she helped Ars Awaken the Caravan, she sends a beautiful kite to Ars as a gift. But that is her only interaction she keeps with the Ancient clan and keeps herself busy with her husband, work, and their growing family.
