Xenia
Mercenary Chief
A mercenary is a dragon working or acting merely for money or other rewards. They are soldiers for hire and hired guns. Mercenaries, sometimes referred to as mercs, will perform assassinations, fight in battles and wars, commit contract killing, act as guards, and etc. The mercenary chief determines what the mercs do and controls them. She can also determine strategies and what not-whatever is convenient for the current mission. The Lavaburst Clan has a small group of mercenaries residing in their city known as the Sunforge that has been integrated into the clan. 50% of their earnings goes to the clan. "My most charming smile comes with a knife behind my back." An impoverished dragon turned mercenary, Xenia doesn't look back at the past. She moves forward with agility and persistence. Xenia is an efficient killer- sly, crafty, and quick-witted. She has perfected her battling style and is a force to be reckoned with. She shares all her genes with her Coatl father. - Likes: Reading, Snakes, Collecting seashells, Drinking tea, Birdwatching, Knitting, Sweets, Dancing, Watching rain fall from the sky - Dislikes: Backing Down, Drawing, Painting, The Cornet - Secret(s): Xenia hates herself for this, but she will run and flee from battle if she has to. Additionally, she feels that violence is the correct answer to most kinds of challenge. However, she might not act upon it. - According to the Sornieth Floriography Guide, cindermint stands for corruption. - Her firemane manticore is named Scorpio. He is considerably spoiled and is frequently given jewelry and toys. - Battlecry, Red - Origins, Casual, Cinder Queen - Despite having low empathy, Xenia can be affectionate and/or flirty at times. Not to mention that she can actually feel empathy, just not often. She was described as a heartthrob and a flirt when she was younger, but she seldom flaunts public displays of affection nowadays. - Xenia believes that people that fight beside her are worth dying for. - Xenia will not hesitate to do what she needs to do to get the job done. - Her ice pick, which she almost always has on her, is mostly used as a weapon. She can enchant it so that it will catch fire and swing it around. It can also be used to hook smaller creatures when she hunts. - Xenia is a free spirit that will not let anyone push her around. - Xenia used to scam dragons for treasure. It was very difficult for her to acquire treasure in the past. She did a wide variety of things just to make ends meet. - Xenia used to participate in underground fighting, where dragons come and bet on fighters and their matches. It was just another way to make treasure. There, she was known as the Cinder Queen. She denies any involvement with underground fighting. - Xenia doesn't care for fighting fair. She will kill someone in their sleep if it's easier. - Xenia's claws began to be able to glow shortly after she joined the Lavaburst Clan and agreed to merge the Sunforge with their clan. It's said to be a side effect of the magic she had begun to teach herself. Now, glowing claws are an identifying trait of all Sunforge mercs. - Xenia enjoys knitting. Her specialty is sweaters and anything woolly. They're always just the right size and never itchy. - She is notorious for coming up with unique ways to carry out missions. - Xenia almost always wears her jewelry. It is made of gold and jasper. - Sometimes, during moments of intense stress or anger, the ground beneath Xenia catches fire. If she begins pacing, the fire follows until she calms down. There are some scorch marks in the residence. - Xenia really likes dancing- especially ribbon dancing. However, she can do neither. She's, more or less, the observing the type. - Xenia is a wise intellectual who sports a fiery temper. That temper might only come out to play after her calm and composed exterior is spent and her patience unrewarded. Maybe she doesn't enjoy hatchings all that much, especially when they tug at those expensive-looking jewels on her wings. She's the type to thirst for adventure. (Thank you, @Moonaire! [Source]) - Xenia doesn't like to ask for help. She feels that it makes her look weaker. - Magic ref. - Xenia has a strong sense of justice, albeit a bit flawed. Instead of jail time, she rather most dragons die for their crimes. She has killed a dragon who she had caught attempting to steal a Lavaburst hatchling and assisted in laying waste to an underground organization focused on dragon trafficking. She won't hesitate to kill most dragons if she feels that the crime fits the punishment (she thinks most crimes fit the punishment). Origin Story Xenia was born in an impoverished section of a large city. Her family was living in inadequate conditions, struggling by cold winters and burning summers. Not wanting to be a liability, Xenia stole valuables and treasure to help make ends meet. In school, she was an exemplary student that kept to herself. She excelled especially in magic and literature. On the brink of adulthood, she fled her city with a boyfriend who was fleeing the law. Word on the street had murmured he was the culprit behind a series of murder, but Xenia refused to believe this. She remembered him being as gentle as he was tough. Underneath a cold demeanor, she knew there was a loving dragon. However, the guards from their city found them. In the young couple's attempt to flee, her boyfriend was struck by a bolt to his back which hindered his movement. Xenia would leave him behind in her panic, even as he screamed her name as the guards drove their claws into his body. This event would give her trust issues, a cold demeanor, and a flawed sense of justice. After a while of living a life of turmoil in which she honed her magic skills just so she could steal for treasure and food, she ran into a clan that lived among shaded trees and winding greenery. When they witnessed her powerful Fire magic, they promptly offered her a home among their home in the Viridian Labyrinth. This clan was like no other she can bared witness to. This clan was dominated by Wildclaws, so duels were commonplace. Brought up on the battles of this new clan, Xenia became quite aggressive and abrasive. One day, she would challenge Favian, a Bogsneak whom had also been taken in recently, to a duel because he was teasing her. She won effortlessly, even though Favian held a unique ability and was a powerful fighter. Later, she visited him in the clan's clinic to see if he was okay. They quickly became friends. Soon, she'd meet Cayenne. This dragon was armed to the teeth with explosives and bombs, almost always decorated with a coat of gunpowder. The Spiral fit all her standards, she was tough, cool, funny, and also extremely sweet. Xenia was in love, so she challenged Favian to another duel just to catch her attention, much to Favian's dismay. He was quickly beaten again, but this outcome featured a fractured arm. Favian was berated by the leader of the clan for a constant streak of losing. There was only one good thing came out of the duel, Cayenne was impressed. Xenia and Cayenne became friends, and later became mates. The two and Favian had become a tightly-knit group who would hunt and explore places together. They also made a friend named Araqiel, whose quick wit and sly humor they grew to appreciate. Eventually, the four grew to hate their clan, and their system of fight or be killed. Worn by frequent battles and their resulting injuries, they made a plan. They would set half of the dens on fire and sneak out in the midst of the chaos. Araqiel suggested that they rendezvous in the forest. It had always been a place of comfort for them, now it would be their escape. It did not go as planned. Araqiel had set up a trap to capture Favian, Xenia, and Cayenne. He had outed them as traitors. In the forest, they were met with five of the clan's most strongest warriors who would attempt to capture them. Luckily, the three managed to beat them in a fight that mortally wounded Araqiel. Unfortunately, the remaining trio had to flee. This was the worst part of their lives, as they had resorted to living in a cave with little treasure and food. Xenia would get treasure by stealing and Cayenne would dance with ribbons and fans in the trading post. Favian began to sell his beloved collection of books. They would gain a new member during this time - Vitra. Vitra was a Skydancer that excelled in magic. He had been recently kicked out of clan for having an affinity for the patriarch's father and was looking for anywhere to go. They really only took him in because he had some treasure that he stolen from his former clan before they forced him out. Eventually in a risky attempt to find a more profitable place to live, they left their cave and wandered about. They eventually found the Lavaburst Clan where they were taken in as refugees in light of their poor health. They were nursed until their conditions improved. They had a talk with the Board of Superiors, explaining who they were and what they did. They were met with an interesting proposition- join and serve the clan and receive free food and housing. They took them up on it and became the Sunforge. Xenia's Magic Spells, skills, and magic that Xenia has learned over the years. Tricks Ice Pick Snatch - This ice pick used to be used dominantly for insect-catching, hunting, and fishing, but Xenia has found better uses for it. Xenia hurls her ice pick at a small creature and pulls them back towards her. While the size makes it more fit for smaller animals, Xenia can throw it so that it will get stuck on part of a bigger creature and drag them towards her. Spark of Fire - Xenia sets an inanimate object on fire. Most common things that she sets alight are her ice pick, claws, and her bear trap. Entrap - Xenia sets down a large bear trap. It is most likely enchanted to set fire if stepped on. Additionally, there are some chains attached to it, so that if its victim struggles, Xenia or any other of the mercenaries can hear if they are within its range. Fighting with Fire Blazing Slash - Xenia sets a limb, typically her claws, on fire and lunges forward. Flame Bolt - Xenia generates a bolt of very hot fire, before firing it from her mouth towards an enemy. This is stronger than the average Flame Bolt and is more or less a fireball that can cause collateral damage easily. However, she can also make a normal Flame Bolt that consumes less of her energy. Though normal Flame Bolts are too small to hit multiple targets. Claw of Eruption - Xenia flings fire in a claw-shape spread towards foes. It doesn't have that far of a range, but is stronger than her other long-distance moves. Kindling - Xenia sets her ice pick on fire and swings at faraway enemies, causing embers to scatter and scorching anyone it touches. Wall of Embers - The ground underneath the target becomes hot and glows for four seconds before a 5 feet tall wall of fire erupts from the area. Conflagration - Xenia causes fire to erupt at an area in a cylindrical formation. Pyrrhic Inferno - Xenia sends out a massive wave of fire that covers a large area. This can either be an offensive or defensive attack, creating distance between enemies. However, this attack takes so energy out of her that she cannot use most of her stronger attacks afterwards until she regains her strength.
