Dungeon Warden
Maintaining strong physical prowess and a keen eye, this Pearlcatcher is the clan's dungeon warden. Captives are often used as bargaining chips and are rarely killed. The warden is responsible for the supervision of the prison, ensuring that regulations associated with it are obeyed. "Pick yourself up off the ground, no one is going to do it for you." A stoic cynic, Ryker is known for his negative outlook on Sornieth. He is serious and down-to-earth, paying little attention to most things in the world. Ryker possesses a mastery of battling and strategy and a proficiency in interrogation by any means necessary. He shares basic genes with both of his parents, his mother being a Spiral and his father being a Pearlcatcher. - Likes: Weaponary, Fighting, Shadows, Plants, Tiny Animals, Jewels, Bright colors - Dislikes: Hiding, Bright lights, loud noises, crowds, not being in control - Secret(s): His heavy drinking - According to the Sornieth Floriography Guide, fire flower stands for danger. - His hydra scorpion is named Little Red. She assists in his work and will be present in the prison if he is present in the prison. - Interrogator Ryker - Roanne, the clan's lead alchemist, will give Ryker various items he could use to torture and interrogate a captive if it ever comes down to it. - The decision of who is kept captive after a battle is up to Ryker and the Council. - Ryker frequents the clan's tavern. Vollenth, his mate, advises him to not drink so much, but he doesn't listen. - He and Vollenth raised Fuyu, after having found him abandoned. - He enjoys studying every dragon and learning their strengths and weaknesses. Who knows? There might be a time that will call for this knowledge. - Unlike many of his species, Ryker prefers fight to flight and will usually fight till near death, because of this Vollenth fears for him and often tries to convince him to stop with this method. - The four times a year Tourmaline spends molting, Ryker takes care of the hatchlings, and he does a good job of it, which seems odd for someone of his personality. - The Lavaburst Clan does indeed keep captives, sometimes benefiting off of ransoming and exchanging prisoners. The special dragon that takes care of this is Ryker. - Ryker can easily become overprotective of Vollenth. So much as a glare and next thing you know it, there's an angry Pearlcatcher charging at you. - Ryker does not take pleasure in his job, but he won't hesitate to do it either. - As cold as he may seem, he loves puns and cracking jokes. - He has a "mission at all costs" attitude and has performed unrestricted activity under the noses of the Council. - Ryker will never hurt friends or family. Never. No matter what they have done. Additionally, he is ferociously protective of his loved ones. Origin Story Ryker's origins traced to an organization of war-hardened dragons known as Scales and Blood (or the SB). In SB, scars were decoration that adorned the strong. They fought whenever they thought they should and seldom met defeat. Weakness has no place in this calculated group. While the organization's leadership state that they took him in after finding him abandoned, Ryker always believed that they had stole him from somewhere. He was trained to fight the moment he could walk. As he was raised among dragons who seemed to have no weaknesses, he hid his own. Emotions made one vulnerable, he had observed. He would spill no tears, he swore to himself, only blood. The leadership was hard to please. He could take down a tunnel hydra alone and they wouldn't bat an eye. He began to grow spiteful of them. This spite would only grow over the years, until he met his breaking point one day. On a rainy day amidst a food shortage, the SB's youth would be subjected to a competition. This competition held only one trial and that was to beat your opponent. However, the failing dragon would be exiled forever. The leadership pitted him against the youth's strongest. He was a large Imperial, one paw could crush Ryker's spine. Ryker lost, coming out with a broken wing. In a fit of rage, he slashed the throat of one of the leadership. He had to escape afterward. Ryker found himself in the land of light, nursing himself to health in a cave in the middle of nowhere. He made friends with a small hydra scorpion, but otherwise he saw no other living things. Life would lonely until he met Vollenth. This Spiral waltzed into his life on some dumb exploration and it hadn't been the same since. It started with simple conversation. Then, Ryker would ask Vollenth about clan life and Vollenth would ask him about the solitary life. He shared intimate moments with the Spiral. Consoling each other about their bad lives became normal. Ryker had learned what love was. When Vollenth came by, it was like a gust of wind on a hot, sunny day. And so he was hit with a notion. He wanted to leave for a better life and wanted Vollenth to escape with him. He agreed. So at midnight, Ryker snuck into the abusive clan of his newfound mate, beat some guards up and took his love out and away. After a bit of wandering, they found the Lavaburst Clan in their very early stages of development. Ryker would become a guard and later a warden, after proving his prowess in fighting and strategy. He frequently tries to break out of his cell. He is from the Scavenger Syndicate and refuses to spill any intelligence. (20M, Eggplant Iridescent/Blackberry Shimmer/Royal Opal, Arcane Imperial Male) Clear Waters - An attentive Guardian hailing from the Hydroelectric Mergence. Ryker thinks he's endlessly terrifying, due to the way he'll watch your every move.He is a POW. (16M, Midnight Skink/Midnight Spinner/Robin Opal, Water Guardian Male) Rose - A quiet, calcuating Skydancer. She always seems to be plotting something. She is a lair infiltrator from the Scavenger Syndicate. (5.4M, Antique Freckle/Antique Speckle/Orchid Runes, Arcane Skydancer Female) Unity - A Spiral lacking one arm and thus cannot fly. She screams of her allegiance to the Lightweaver and to the Dark of the Hewn and how the Lavaburst Clan is undeserving of Her light to any passerby. She is a POW and would rather die then spill intelligence. Because of this, the warden is trying to figure out if the Hewn would give them some treasure for her. (3.2M, Maize Vipera/Maize Hypnotic/Abyss Circuit, Light Spiral Female) Elio - A Mirror who knows much more than what he lets on. He's very attentive and has gotten close to escaping. His colors are so dark that sometimes he disappears in the darkness of his little cell. He had been chipping away at the bars and walls, and can almost fit between two of the bars. If he gets out, he plans on letting out everyone else as well. He was captured after a battle with a small group of Hydroelectric Mergence dragons. It doesn't seem like they'll barter for Elio. Ryker has no idea what to do with him. (5.98M, Sanguine Metallic/Sanguine Alloy/Cobalt Stained, Shadow Mirror Male) Evie - Evie is a sweet dragon, so sweet it makes you wonder how and just why she's in a prison. Well, she tried to bust Elio out of the Lavaburst Prison, but failed. Her crystal fur is very soft, even though it looks hard. When it's ruffled it sounds like wind chimes. The sound got her caught by guards. It doesn't seem that the Hydroelectric Mergence wants her or Elio back. Sometimes a softer side of the Mirror shows and he reassures her through the stone walls. (3.3M, White Crystal/Moon Facet/Sky Opal, Lightning Tundra Female)
