The young imperial was considered to be a bit ... off by most people she encountered. She had her head in the clouds and the stars in her eyes. She was expected to be sweet and docile - she certainly looked the part. But she always seemed to land herself in trouble, falling down one rabbit hole or another. So this time she set out to leap into one of her own accord. No longer would she be the helplessly lost dreamer everyone thought her to be. She sought out the Banescales, ancient fighters renowned for the might in battle, and she trained with them.

"Who are you?" said the Caterpillar.
This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation.
Alice replied, rather shyly, "I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then."

Patio Rose Chickweed Snowshoe Rabbit

The girl was slight but lanky, the pale skin of her long legs iridescent in the morning light. She sat in the center of a ring of roses. The flowers bloomed white and red with some a mottle of the two colors as if someone had given up on painting them halfway through. The girl was peculiar, wearing nothing but a simple pink dress that matched the pair of antlers that grew amidst her sandy mane; it was plain save for the sparkles that glimmered through the fabric just as her antlers twinkled above her brow. On her cheeks lay a constellation of pink freckles with three pairs of long whiskers. Tiny teacups were hanging from the prongs of her antlers. Sprigs of her favorite tea were tied in a tight bundle to the beam of her left antler. She carried a steaming teapot that never seemed to grow cold.
"Hello there!" she beamed as she wiggled her fingers in a wave. "I'm Alice, the new member of your hunting party," she announced as casually and certainly as if she were declaring that the sky is blue.
The Banescales stilled, generations of war making them cautious. Still, the girl seemed innocent enough so they stepped closer and introduced themselves. One scoffed but the other two just smirked. Amused, they asked for her story. The trio soon learned that she'd found her way into the clearing by following the white rabbit. No, no, she'd correct them, not a white rabbit - the white rabbit. The distinction was important, though no one was sure why. Instead of the rabbit, a smokey cat with large gold eyes now sat beside her. They'd asked her if it was her familiar, but Alice laughed in response. "No, Dinah's just... Dinah. My familiar's a jabberwocky," she grinned proudly. The Banescales frowned in confusion, never having heard of a jabberwocky before. When prompted, Alice described her 'jabberwocky' as a blotchy green creature with a collar of fur, a fluffy tail, batty wings, and an elongated snout. "He's usually invisible though!" she chimed in.
It was a curious idea - the spotted pukasloth that couldn't be spotted.

Pearl Silkworm Bloody Snapdragon Heart Rose

The Banescales didn't know what to make of this odd child. Their hunting party had been scouting for rogue beasts when they stumbled into her garden. They were still in the middle of interrogating her when her attention suddenly darted away from them. A number of butterflies flittered about her on creamy wings and she seemed to be particularly taken with one of them. "Well perhaps now you understand what a peculiar thing it is to hardly know who you are," she told it with disdain There seemed to be some kind of history between Alice and the maize monarch the Banescales decided not to ask about.
All at once, they realized how much time had passed since they'd entered the clearing and felt a sudden urgency to get going before they were late. They were unsure as to what it was they'd be late for, given that they had no prior appointments, but the Banescales were inexplicably convinced it was very important. In unanimous agreement, they turned and left the Imperial to argue with her butterfly. Whatever the girl's story, they certainly would have no part in it. At least, that was what they told themselves. The idea of taking this whimsical child into battle to train her as one of their own was absolutely ludicrous. Mad, even. Yet when they arrived back at the lair to find the girl sitting cross-legged in the middle of the common area none moved to get rid of her. They had no idea how she'd gotten there before them or how she'd found their lair at all for that matter. It was well-hidden and none of their other lairmates had seen her come in.
At their gasps, she turned to them with a wide cheshire grin. "So," she began, "when do we train?"
