There was another life, before this one. Len can feel it, can half-remember jobs, stealing from high-profile dragons, decorating his hoard with piles of gems and beautiful paintings, anything he could get his hands on. He remembers a partner. A nemesis. A sister. Len remembers dying, an explosion that tore him apart at the seams and scattered him through time. He vaguely remembers gathering up his pieces and shoving them in an abandoned egg to heal.

He has a new life now, but he can still feel the time stream in his veins, pushing at his edges again, trying to escape the confines of flesh and scales and blood and be free. It helps him keep perfect time, counting seconds like a dragon possessed, his body ticking down a timer until he finds the dragons he needs again. A partner. A nemesis. A sister.

Len's arrival to the Brightclaw immediately caught the Skydancer Lisa's attention- they were two kindred souls, two creatures that lusted after money and the thrill of the job, and Len immediately joined her in planning heists from the hoard and the marketplace, swiping bigger and better things just for the challenge, to see what they could get away with, what they could do. The bond between them is as strong as any hatch-mates, and the two call each other brother and sister like they never knew life without the other as family. One timer has counted down. Len found his sister.

It was when Len and Lisa were stealing from a booth in the auction house that they caught the eye of a dragon named Barry, who had the siblings away from their haul and out of the auction house in a burst of lightning. Lisa was ready to kill, but Len stopped her, feeling a spark pass between himself and the dragon who'd stopped them, recognizing that brave, stupid, heroic look in the dragon's eye. The name Barry fell unbidden from Len's mouth as he reached out to touch the scarlet dragon. His second timer counted down. Len found his nemesis.

It was while out casing a job that Len found his partner, a Bogsneak with vacant eyes curling far too close to a bonfire, making Len sharply cry his name to jolt out of his reverie and make him pull his hand back from the flames. Lisa flew over to hug Mick, pulling him even further from the fire as she wrapped her wings around him, and Len found himself staring at Mick with his heart in his throat. Mick, he repeated, and Mick staggered over to Len, leaning their foreheads together and suppressing a sob of relief, a sentiment that Len completely understood. The final timer counted down.
