A quiet and lonely hatchling, Mick spent most of his youth staring into the burning flame of a torch, watching fire as though it held the secrets of the world. He never grew out of it, as his parents expected, instead starting to light fires to alleviate the anxiety he felt clawing at him. There was something missing, and Mick feared what would happen to him if he never found what it was. During one of his episodes, Mick was too lost in the flames to realize they were surrounding him, leaving him with severe burns that he refused to let anyone else nurse or try to magically heal.

Mick was at the edge of his birth-clan's land, curled dangerous close to a bonfire, when Len and Lisa found him, the siblings immediately forgetting about the heist they were planning when they saw their Mick close to burning himself again. Shocked out of his trance by Len calling his name, he let Lisa pull him away from the fire, fuzzily muttering her name as memories of their past started slowly flowing in and then came all at once, the intensity of the emotions involved drawing tears from him. A sob of relief was all he could muster when Lenny said his name again, curling close to him: Mick finally, finally had his love back. Another flood hit him again when they reached Brightclaw lands and Barry zipped over to him, the kid worriedly looking him over before making Mick promise to never leave them again.

Since being welcomed into the Brightclaw, Mick's new clanmates have been watching over him to ensure he doesn't accidentally (or intentionally) hurt himself further with his pyromania, and clan apothecary Ena has whipped up a lotion to help keep Mick's burns flexible and moisturized. Usually, he'd complain, but Len tends to silently glare at him if he doesn't take care of himself, so Mick lets the clan, his partner, and their Scarlet Speedster help him to reach a better place than he was in before, one still tainted by the grief of his past life.
