The daughter of Helen and Ned, Phyllis was raised on their farm and knows how to shake an apple tree, hoe a row of wheat, throw rocks with alarming accuracy at desert varmints trying to make off with the clan's crops, and haul a 200lb sack of gravel without breaking a sweat.

After Murr and Four joined the family, Phyllis made her apologies and moved into town where the ground was level and you didn't risk getting sprayed by the irrigator if you put your claws in the wrong spot. Being naturally drawn to the neat and proper, she applied to work first at the library and then as Roslin's assistant. She was turned down by the first for her lack of experience and enthusiastically accepted by the second due to the lack of other options.

Since then, she visits her family regularly and helps out when they need it, but puts most of her energy into government (such as it is). Phyllis spends her time reading documents, running errands, and practicing diplomacy with wandering merchants, passing-through travelers, and new citizens. With her widest grin and meticulously combed mane, she is practically the smiling face of Square Toe.

When not on the job, she spends time with her girlfriend, Sandy, who calls her Phyl. Phyl's offered to share her apartment in the city proper with the Tundra many times but Sandy's always nervously declined - if she moves out her parents will be living alone. Phyl, whose mother and father have a habit of adopting any stray dragons they find, is still having trouble wrapping her head around that.

Phyl may pretend to only tolerate the rough-and-tumble her girlfriend loves, but she loves it in secret. Long runs and wrestling in the desert with Sandy flapping along and favoring her leg followed by a delicious dust bath... delightful!

SANDY

Phyllis and Roslin work well together - Phyllis works out the little details like coffee, paperwork, and shaking down Sherman for files that should have been delivered a week ago, while Roslin drinks the coffee, signs the paperwork, wrangles town meetings, and collapses at her desk after particularly stressful days. You might think this would dull Phyllis's passion for politics but no, it just makes her more determined to one day have Roslin's job.

ROSLIN

For all that Phyllis likes pretending she's a city girl now (as far as that's possible in Square Toe), she just can't stop hanging around agriculture. She only has to drop by every month to make sure everything's up to code, but she hangs out with the Banescale more often than that, to chat about snakes and city life.
