Xin recognizes the look in her parents' eyes.

It is pride, she thinks, and grins. The couriers have trained her well, putting her through her paces every training. She learns about every nook and corner in the wide, wide world that is Sorineth, tracking paths and discovering new routes.

She notices the spark of fury in her older sister's eyes the day and the resignation in her brother's, and decides: this clan is not for her, either.

She leaves with much fanfare and a promise to come visit.

The Plague will guide her home.
