Biography

“Before we ourselves in this manner forget even about our own selves.”
(From a translation by dely)
Prompt
Every dragon May had ever known had become a part of him in some way. It always felt right in the moment, like it was perfectly natural for him to lose his own personality and wishes in the presence of another dragon. It always felt wrong when he was alone and trying to remember who he had been. That pattern had been repeating for his whole life, with him feeling lost and identityless whenever he was alone. Maybe it would be better to lose those memories of the ways he had been before. He would be content then, at least for a while. Maybe then, he could have a friend without the weight of the knowledge of what solitude would bring.
There are so many ways to forget, he thought as he prepared to use his magic. This is just one of the easiest. With that, he forgot those unpleasant times, of each time he had been unable to tell if a thought was his or someone else’s. Still, that emptiness that he had always felt was pressing on his mind.
