Rowan was born in the clan that Lord Iceflame was raised with and the two have known each other since they were hatched. The youngest of his siblings, Rowan was the runt of the nest and shunned from the rest of the clan. Iceflame, having been so fierce that most of the dragons feared her, understood what it was like to be avoided and shoved into the shadows of the clan. She and Rowan started to talk more and more and eventually became friends, Iceflame standing up for him and Rowan helping calm her temper. After Iceflame's outburst that lead to her leaving, Rowan tried to follow after her but the leader refused to let him go as a punishment for Iceflame. Trapped in the clan's dungeon, he was constantly trying to escape. Unfortunately, they only provided him to bare minimum amount of food to keep him alive so he slowly withered away, what little strength he had dissipating under the poor conditions. |

For a long time, Rowan waited in the underground dungeon, waiting for the moment he could escape. Despite his dreadful and weak condition, the fighting spirit that Iceflame had infected him with never died nor left. One day, the dungeon was deserted of all guards. Realizing that this would most likely be his only chance to escape, he immediately began attacking the now rusting bars keeping him from freedom. Luckily, he had kept his claws just sharp enough, the bars were fragile enough and he had stored up enough magick that he was able to destroy the bars and make it outside his cell. Other prisoners tried to convince him to help them and, despite being terribly tempted since he knew how they were being treated, he had to leave them because his own escape had nearly completely drained his remaining stores of magick and strength. Giving a sorrowful look and sincere apology, he left, fleeing the dungeon. Emerging on the surface, he blinked, blinded by the sudden light of a sun which he had not seen in an incredibly long amount of time. After he let himself recover for as long as he dared, Rowan took off before anyone could stop him, single minded in his goal to find and reach Iceflame. Once, she and him had talked about leaving their birth clan and living alone in the Cloudscrape Crags. Using this knowledge, he headed towards the region to find her. Finding an old camp at the base of a mountain, he caught the faint remains of Iceflame's scent. Deciding that she would eventually return, he stayed, using the opportunity to recover from his cruel imprisonment. After a while, a strange dragon arrived at the camp and, spotting Rowan, approached him, acting rather aggressively, questioned why he was in Storm clan's old camp. Politely explaining his goal, the dragon relaxed slightly and explained what had happened, about Storm clan, Lord Iceflame and how they had moved to the Ashfall Waste for a while. Nodding, Rowan asked to be taken to Storm clan's new territory. The member of Storm clan obliged, rather reluctantly though. Arriving in Storm clan's new territory, Rowan caught sight of Iceflame and rushed forward, nearly bringing her to the ground in his excitement. It took a moment for Iceflame to recognize him, which truly hurt, but, once she did recognize him, she was elated and enthusiastically greeted him. After spending time quickly catching up in the middle of the camp, with the clan staring at them, unused to Iceflame being so welcoming towards a stranger, she gave him a tour of the clan and introduced him to her clan mates. Rowan was very excited to be introduced to the clan. It had been so long since he had been treated like an equal and included in anything. Once they had finished a tour of the camp, they both went into Iceflame's den to catch up more. Upon learning of his cruel treatment and why he had not left when she had, Iceflame almost wanted to fly back to her birth clan and destroy them using her own clan but, like the old days that had long pasted, Rowan eased her temper and they continued their joyous reunion. After sharing experiences from after they had been separated, Iceflame asked him to join Storm clan and he accepted the offer, glad to be reunited and away from his birth clan. Becoming a soldier for the clan, Rowan rather quickly rose through the ranks. He was strong after having fully recovering and was a skilled fighter. Most everyone accepted him and treated him equally. However, both Whitelightning and Skyfire grew jealous of the mirror and the favor which he held with Lord Iceflame. WhiteLightning, as Lord Iceflame's mate, was agitated that such a new member to the clan had risen to a higher clan position then he held. Skyfire was annoyed that someone who was so new held such high favor with Iceflame. Despite not knowing the cause of their jealousy, Rowan never lets it get to him. |
